Techniques for automated policy analysis are disclosed. In one particular embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method for automated policy analysis comprising processing system configuration information for a system, processing policy configuration information for the system, analyzing at least one policy configuration change to the policy configuration information, recommending the at least one policy configuration change based on the analysis of the at least one policy configuration change, and updating the policy configuration information for the system based on the recommendation of the at least one policy configuration change.

Techniques for automated policy analysis

A computer-implemented method may include monitoring a computing system for evidence of potential data failures within the computing system. The computer-implemented method may also include detecting evidence that indicates a potential data failure while monitoring the computing system and identifying data implicated in the potential data failure based on the detected evidence. The computer-implemented method may further include initiating an action configured to proactively facilitate restoration of at least a portion of the data implicated in the potential data failure prior to determining whether the data implicated in the potential data failure needs to be restored. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Systems and methods for proactively facilitating restoration of potential data failures

Systems and methods for backup test restore are presented. In one embodiment a backup restore test method includes performing a backup process; performing a test restore virtual environment creation process, the test restore virtual environment including a plurality of virtual machines; and performing a test of the backup on the test restore virtual environment. The backup process can include backing up information associated with an application; identifying prerequisites associated with running the application; and backing up information associated with the prerequisites. The test restore virtual environment creation process can include gathering information identifying the prerequisites associated with the application; creating the plurality of virtual machines, wherein the plurality of virtual machines includes virtual machines corresponding to physical machines the application and perquisites run on; and bringing up the plurality of virtual machines utilizing the information from the backup process.

Storage systems and methods

Method, apparatus, and computer readable medium for managing an image of a storage volume are described. File extents for each of a plurality of files as defined in an original block layout of the image are obtained. A re-ordered block layout is generated by re-ordering, for each file of the plurality of files, blocks as defined by the original block layout based on the file extents of the respective file such that the blocks are contiguous. Layout metadata indicative of a mapping between the original block layout and the re-ordered block layout is generated. An archive image having the re-ordered block layout and the layout metadata is stored to a sequential storage device.
