An apparatus includes: a plurality of separable load break devices, each separable load break device including: a resettable current interruption device associated with operating states, the operating states including at least a first operating state that prevents current flow in the resettable current interruption device and a second operating state that allows current flow in the resettable current interruption device; a switch control configured to control the operating state of the resettable current interruption device; a connection interface configured to mechanically connect the load break device to a separate electrical device and to electrically connect the resettable current interruption device to the separate electrical device; and an electrical interface configured to electrically connect the resettable current interruption device to a load. The apparatus also includes a control system configured to provide electrically ganged operation of the plurality of load break devices.

Control system for separable load-break electrical connectors

A transitional USB receptacle has one USB PD port and one USB-C port (non-PD). The receptacle includes flyback topology for AC/DC conversion, a bypass circuit, a buck converter, and a USB controller that determines the voltage demands of external devices connected to the USB-C and PD ports. The flyback topology uses a transformer with two sets of windings that produce different output voltages. The bypass switch is configured to ensure that only voltage signals under 10V are input to the buck converter, resulting in a different one of the transformer output voltages being input to the buck converter under different load demands. This enables the buck converter to more efficiently produce a 5V at the USB-C port when the USB PD port needs to simultaneously supply either 15V or 20V, and also enables the buck converter to more efficiently produce a 5V or 9V output at the USB PD port.

Transitional USB PD (power delivery) dual port receptacle with smart bypass circuit

A receptacle includes a plurality of universal serial bus (USB) ports including a USB Type C PD port and a USB Type C port couplable to respective devices for charging, a controller coupled to the USB ports and including a dynamic power sharing logic, the controller structured to: determine whether one or more USB ports are coupled to the respective devices and manage first power negotiation and dynamic power sharing if both USB ports are coupled to respective devices or manage second power negotiation if only one USB port is coupled to respective device; an AC/DC converter including a gallium nitride (GaN) MOSFET on at least one of the primary side or the secondary side of the AC/DC converter, the AC/DC converter structured to provide high power to the USB Type C PD port; and a DC/DC converter structured to provide low power to the USB Type C port.

Dynamic power sharing dual USB type C and power delivery receptacle

An energy monitoring device includes a power supply circuit electrically coupled to a power source via a hot conductor and a load via a load conductor; a relay circuit including a relay and a relay driver circuit, where the relay includes a plurality of coils and the relay contact electrically coupled to the hot conductor and the load conductor; a sensing circuit including a hot voltage sensor and a load voltage sensor; and a controller electrically coupled to the power supply circuit, the relay driver circuit, and the sensing circuit, and structured to receive a hot voltage from the hot voltage sensor and a load voltage from the load voltage sensor, and determine a load current based at least in part on a relay contact resistance of the relay contact and a delta between the hot voltage and the load voltage.

A receptacle includes a plurality of universal serial bus (USB) power delivery (PD) ports couplable to one or more devices to be charged, a plurality of USB PD controllers coupled to the plurality of USB PD ports in a one-to-one manner, where the plurality of USB PD controllers are structured and configured to negotiate power sharing when the plurality of USB PD ports are coupled to a plurality of devices to be charged, a microcontroller coupled to the plurality of USB PD controllers and structured and configured to receive, from at least one USB PD controller of the plurality of USB PD controllers, real-time charging information including at least a power profile of the one or more devices to be charged, and a display coupled to the microcontroller and structured and configured to receive and display the real-time charging information.

A printed circuit board assembly is for a ground fault indication system of a power pedestal. The power pedestal includes a housing. The ground fault indication system has a number of ground fault input devices each structured to be coupled to the housing. The printed circuit board assembly includes an enclosure, a number of terminals each coupled to the enclosure, at least one of the number of terminals being structured to be electrically connected with one of the number of ground fault input devices, and a printed circuit board enclosed by the enclosure and electrically connected to the number of terminals. The printed circuit board has an indication apparatus structured to provide an indication of circuit status.

A charger apparatus a first port, a second port, a first circuit coupled to the first port, and a second circuit coupled to the second port. The charger also includes a controller, wherein the first circuit and the second circuit each receive a DC power signal generated from an AC input signal, and wherein the controller is structured and configured to determine whether a load current on the second circuit is above a threshold level and responsive to determining that the load current is above the threshold level, (i) cause the first circuit to advertise the first current at a level that is less than a maximum current level that may be advertised at the first port, and (ii) cause the second circuit to advertise the second current at a level that is equal to a maximum current level that may be advertised at the second port.

A receptacle includes an outlet, an interruption mechanism structured to activate to de-energize the outlet, a temperature sensing circuit including a resistor and a thermistor arranged as a voltage divider, wherein the thermistor has a resistance proportional to temperature, a comparator circuit structured to compare an output of the temperature sensing circuit to a predetermined reference voltage and to selectively output a signal based on the comparison of the output of the temperature sensing circuit and the predetermined reference voltage. The interruption mechanism is structured to activate to de-energize the outlet in response to the comparator circuit outputting the signal.

A combination receptacle includes a first universal serial bus (USB) port having a first type, a second USB port having a second type, a shutter structured to have a first state to allow access to the first USB port and block access to the second USB port and a second state to block access to the first USB port and allow access to the second USB port, and circuitry structured to control and provide power to the first and second USB ports.

An electrical outlet that is structured to be mounted to a wall and to be electrically connected with an AC power source employs a removable and replaceable power module that includes its own USB power outlets. The electrical outlet includes a base having a receptacle formed therein within which the power module is receivable. The base additionally includes its own AC power outlets. The power module may include, for example, one or more USB power outlets, such as USB type-A outlets, and the power module can easily be removed and replaced with an alternative power module that includes, for example, one or more USB type-C power outlets.
