A surgical instrument for clamping and separating tissue has two branches, each forming a clamping jaw and a gripping element. The second branch features a separating element for separating tissue held between the jaws and a drive mechanism for driving the separating element. A locking element is movable between a locking position, in which the locking element engages with the drive mechanism in a blocking manner, and an open position in which the drive mechanism is unblocked by the locking element. The locking element has a magnetic locking portion. The first branch has a magnetic actuating portion for actuating the locking element. The locking portion and/or actuating portion has a magnet to move the locking element into the open position through magnetic attraction or repulsion between the locking portion and actuating portion when the branches approach each other, and to release actuation of the separating element.

Surgical tissue fusion instrument and support structure having two gripping structures which are movable relative to each other and which are designed to bring together biological tissue sections that are to be connected to each other, with heat-generating means which are assigned to the gripping structures and, during tissue fusion, cause heat to be introduced in the area of a connection site of the biological tissue sections, and also with a support structure which is held between the gripping structures and, during tissue fusion, is operatively connected to the tissue sections. An HF surgical instrument includes two instrument branches movable toward each other into a closing position. Each branch is equipped with at least one electrode and can be supplied with electric power from a power source. The HF instrument includes a separately configured bridge which is connectable to the power source via at least one electric connection or at least one electric line and includes at least one electrically conductive contact point for supplying the at least one electrode with electric power. The bridge can be introduced to at least one of the two branches so that the at least one contact point is electrically contacted by the at least one electrode. A method of assembling a HF surgical instrument includes equipping two instrument branches with at least one electrode.

Surgical tissue fusion instrument having two gripping structures which are movable relative to each other, are designed for gripping and bringing together biological tissue sections, and are assigned heat-generating means designed in such a way that tissue fusion takes place between the biological tissue sections by heat being supplied in the area of the gripping structures. At least one gripping structure is assigned a fluid-conducting system, which is designed to supply at least one liquid or flowable additive to the tissue sections during a tissue fusion process.

A surgical instrument in HF design includes two tissue branches, at least one of the tissue branches being movable relative to the other tissue branch and being able to be applied to the other tissue branch with a predetermined or predeterminable contact pressure via an actuation mechanism while clamping body tissue between the tissue branches. A clamping pressure controlling or adjustment device is interconnected in a force or torque gear train between the actuation mechanism and the at least one movable tissue branch.

An anastomosis instrument includes a headpiece shaft which can be inserted in an instrument shaft so as to be axially shiftable therein, a plate-like and/or anvil-like headpiece being axially shiftable on the distal end portion of the headpiece shaft and being supported via a cross pin between a processing position and a withdrawal position, the headpiece on the headpiece shaft being displaced or shifted from a first, proximally retracted latching position in which the headpiece shaft is coupled to the headpiece in a form-fitting manner to fix the headpiece in the processing position so that it is unable to pivot, to a second, distally advanced latching position in which the form fit is released in order to allow the headpiece to swivel to the withdrawal position.

A surgical instrument includes an elongated shaft, with components arranged in the shaft. The elongated shaft is slightly curved. Arranged on a proximal end of the surgical instrument is an actuation device in the form of a lever mechanism and rotary knob. A force transmission element in the form of a plastic hollow section is arranged in the shaft. The force transmission element is a plastic section designed for transmitting compressive and tensile forces. The plastic section is provided with a plurality of longitudinally extending channels. Therefore, the plastic section does not only serve as a force transmission element, but electric lines and a pull-push shaft may additionally extend in the channels. The longitudinal channels may be used for supplying cooling media for the electrodes or the thermo-fusion device or for feeding agents promoting wound repair. The plastic section is electrically insulating, so that the risk of short-circuits is reduced.
