A novel chemical compound, viz. 1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1,2-disilacyclobutane has the formula: ##STR1## A method for preparing 1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1,2-disilacyclobutane comprises reacting vapors of 1,2-bis(dimethylchlorosilyl)ethane with vapors of metallic sodium and/or potassium at a temperature within the range of from 250.degree. to 380.degree. C. under a pressure of vapors of 1,2-bis(dimethylchlorosilyl)ethane of from 0.1 to 10 mm Hg, followed by condensation of vapors of the resultant desired product.

Block-copolymers of vinyltrialkylsilane-hexaorganocyclotrisiloxane of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R, R' are the same or different and each R.sub.3 represent methyl, phenyl; R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 --are each an aliphatic radical containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Z is a residue of a dilithium initiator of polymerization of a vinyltrialkylsilane K is a residue of a monolithium initiator, which is a hydrocarbon radical- normal or iso-alkyl; K' is hydrogen, an (R.sub.3) Si silcarbonic group wherein R is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl radical, or a hydrocarbon radical; a=0 to 10.sup.4 ; b=0 to 10.sup.4 ; C=10 to 10.sup.4 ; d=10 to 10.sup.4 ; f=0 to 1; g=0 to 1, x.gtoreq.1, with a molecular mass of from 10.sup.3 to 10.sup.6. A method for preparing these block-copolymers comprises polymerization of vinyltrialkylsilanes in the presence of mono- or dilithiumorganic initiators, whereafter a solution of a hexaorganocyclotrisiloxane is added to the reaction mixture and polymerization is effected to give intermediate block-copolymers, whereafter the polymerization is stopped or the intermediate block-copolymers are combined by means of a cross-linking agent, followed by recovery of the desired product. The block-copolymers according to the present invention feature a high selectivity of permeation for certain gases. Thus, the ratio of permeability constants for oxygen and nitrogen (P.sub.O.sbsb.2 /P.sub.N.sbsb.2) is as high as 3.5. At the same time, the absolute value of gas-permeability constants is also high, i.e. P.sub.O.sbsb.2 is as high as 1.4.times.10.sup.-8 cm.sup.3.cm/cm.sup.2 cm Hg.sec.

A process for purifying aromatic hydrocarbons contained in liquid products of refining petroleum fractions or liquid products of coal coking or low-temperature carbonization from non-aromatic hydrocarbons which comprises heat-treatment of said liquid products at a temperature ranging from 750.degree. to 950.degree. C. under a pressure within the range of from 1 to 10 atm in the presence of acyclic C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 hydrocarbons employed separately or in various combinations at a weight ratio between said acyclic hydrocarbons and said liquid products being of at least 0.3. The heat-treatment results in a vapor-gas mixture which is cooled to isolate a condensate containing predominantly aromatic hydrocarbons. The process is technologically simple and makes it possible to purify aromatic hydrocarbons practically without decomposition thereof.

A process for petroleum refining to obtain petroleum products having a reduced content of sulphur, oxygen-and nitrogen-containing compounds which comprises introducing into the petroleum during distillation volatile and nonvolatile carbonyl compounds of transition metals selected from the group consisting of Cr, V, Mo, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Co, Ni in amounts of from 0.02 to 0.2% by weight of the petroleum at a temperature ranging from 150.degree. to 350.degree. C under a pressure of from 1 to 7 atm abs. and distilling the petroleum into the desired products. Gasoline and kerosene resulting from such processing have a 5 to 10 times reduced content of mercaptan sulphur and 2 to 10 times reduced total sulphur content, as well as a reduced content of gums.

Process for petroleum refining

A self-lubricating heat-resistant material which, in accordance with the invention, comprises from 20 to 90 percent by weight of a polymer binder, viz. poly(butadiene) with a degree of cross-linking from 30 to 95 percent, and from 10 to 80 percent by weight of an antifriction filler, viz. molybdenum disulphide, graphite, boron nitride or a mixture thereof; said material is produced, in accordance with the invention, by pressing a composition consisting of from 20 to 90 percent by weight of poly(butadiene) of molecular weight between 20,000 and 800,000 and from 10 to 80 percent by weight of said antifriction filler, the process being effected at a temperature in the range from 200.degree. to 330.degree. C. and a pressure of from 1,000 to 7,000 kg/sq.cm. The self-lubricating heat-resistant material of the invention exhibits thermal stability at temperatures of up to 350.degree. C., a stable coefficient of friction and excellent wear resistance in the temperature range from -150.degree. to +350.degree. C.

A method for dimerization of olefins with a number of carbon atoms of at most 10 which comprises intermixing, in a medium of solvents selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon solvents and halogenated hydrocarbon solvents at a temperature ranging from -20.degree. to +100.degree. C under a pressure of from 1 to 45 atm, of at least one of said olefines with a two-component catalyst consisting of an organoaluminum compound of the formula R.sub.n AlX.sub.3-n, wherein R is an alkyl with a number of carbon atoms of at most 8, X is a halogen, n = 1 or 2, and a graft-copolymer, swellable in said solvents, of a rubber selected from the group consisting of natural, synthetic carbo-chain and vinyl-containing siloxane rubbers, with vinylpyridine; said copolymer containing 0.5 to 40% by weight of polyvinylpyridine fragments complexed with a nickel salt; molar ratio between said organoaluminum compound and said nickel salt ranging from 1:1 to 100:1. In the method according to the present invention use is made of a catalyst with a maximal number of working active centers thus making it possible to substantially increase the process rate (for example, the rate of dimerization of propylene is about 9 kg of the product per gram of Ni per hour). The method can be performed under both batch and continuous operation conditions.

Method for dimerization of olefins

A method of purifying crude petroleum and primary refining products of their sulfur, sulfur compounds, nitrogen- and oxygen-containing compounds which comprises treating crude petroleum or virgin petroleum stocks with complexes or salts of transition metals (.pi. -complexes of transition metals), salts or .pi. -allylic complexes of platinum metals and carbonyl complexes of transition metals at a temperature of 80.degree.-120.degree. C, followed by separating the purified target product from the resulting reaction mixture. stability The method of the invention makes it possible to effect petroleum product purification as a single-stage process and, in contrast to the available methods, dispenses with the employment of hydrogen, catalysts, and aqueous alkalies. The petroleum products treated by the present method are completely free of hydrogen, sulfur, mercaptan and disulfide sulfur, the content of total sulfur being substantially reduced (by a factor of 2 to 6), another beneficial effect being a 20-50% reduction of the content of nitrogen- and oxygen-containing compounds and naphthenic compounds, thereby enhancing essentially the marketability of petroleum products and improving such properties as colour, odor, stability and gum formation resistance.
