A photonic bolometer includes: a photonic chip; a weak thermal link; a thermally-isolated member, and the weak thermal link thermally isolates the thermally-isolated member from the photonic chip; a photonic temperature sensor; a chip waveguide in optical communication with the photonic temperature sensor; and a photon absorber that receives incident radiation light, increases temperature due to absorption of the incident radiation light, heats the photonic temperature sensor in response to receipt of the incident radiation light, and changes the resonance frequency of the photonic temperature sensor in response to receiving the incident radiation light.

Photonic bolometer and performing broadband high-absorption photonic bolometry

A photonic AC-DC voltage and current equivalence converter includes: a photonic chip; a weak thermal link; an isothermal region; a resistive electrode; an isothermal region photonic nanoresonator; an isothermal region waveguide; a chip photonic nanoresonator; and a chip waveguide, such that an ac voltage is determined from matching a temperature rise of the isothermal region due to a primary elevated temperature of the isothermal region when ac voltage is received by the resistive electrode.

Photonic AC-DC equivalence converter and performing AC-DC equivalence conversion

A photonic quantum dew point sensor determines a dew point of an analyte and includes a common substrate; a photonic dew sensor on the common substrate and exposed for direct contact with the analyte; a photonic temperature sensor on the common substrate; an optomechanical temperature sensor on the common substrate; a dew sensor substrate interposed between the photonic dew sensor and the common substrate; a heater on the dew sensor substrate proximate to the photonic dew sensor; a temperature sensor substrate interposed between the common substrate and each of the photonic temperature sensor and the optomechanical temperature sensor; and a sensor cover on the photonic temperature sensor, the optomechanical temperature sensor, and the temperature sensor substrate to cover the photonic temperature sensor and the optomechanical temperature sensor to prevent direct contact between the analyte and each of the photonic temperature sensor and the optomechanical temperature sensor.

Photonic quantum dew point sensor

A uniaxial counter-propagating monolaser atom trap cools and traps atoms with a single a laser beam and includes: an atom slower that slows atoms to form slowed atoms; an optical diffractor including: a first diffraction grating that receives primary light and produces first reflected light; a second diffraction grating that receives primary light and produces second reflected light; and a third diffraction grating that receives the primary light and produces third reflected light; and a trapping region that forms trap light from the reflected lights and receives slowed atoms to produce trapped atoms from the slowed atoms that interact with the trap light.

Uniaxial counter-propagating monolaser atom trap

A high-resolution photonic thermometer article performs high-resolution thermometry and includes: a light source; a photonic thermometer with a waveguide and a photonic crystal cavity that stores light; a photodetector in communication with the photonic thermometer; a phase sensitive detector in communication with the photodetector and that: receives the photodetector signal from the photodetector; receives a reference frequency signal; and produces a lock signal from the photodetector signal, based on the reference frequency signal; a local oscillator in communication with the phase sensitive detector and that produces the reference frequency signal; and a servo controller in communication with the phase sensitive detector and local oscillator and that: receives the lock signal from the phase sensitive detector; receives the reference frequency signal from the local oscillator; and produces the control signal such that absorption power of the photonic crystal is maximized through wavelength control of the light source by the control signal.

High-resolution photonic thermometer article

A photonic calorimeter converts ionizing radiation dose to heat and includes: a radiation absorber, a temperature compensator disposed within the radiation absorber, a compensation waveguide, a compensation resonator, a compensation resonator, a thermal isolator on which the radiation absorber is disposed and that thermally isolates the radiation absorber from heat loss by thermal transfer due to physical contact by an object, and the temperature compensator changes the optical resonance of the compensation resonator in response to a change in temperature of the radiation absorber due to absorption of the ionizing radiation by the radiation absorber.

Photonic calorimeter and process for performing calorimetry

A photonic dosimeter accrues cumulative dose and includes: a substrate; a waveguide disposed on the substrate and that: receives a primary input light; transmits secondary input light from the primary input light to a dosimatrix; receives a secondary output light from the dosimatrix; and produces primary output light from the secondary output light; the dosimatrix disposed on the substrate and in optical communication with the waveguide and that: receives the secondary input light from the waveguide; produces the secondary output light that is communicated to the waveguide; and includes an active element that undergoes conversion from a prime state to a dosed state in response to receipt, by the active element, of a dose of radiation; and a cover layer disposed on waveguide and the dosimatrix.
