5-Fluorouracil nitroxyl derivatives possessing antitumor activity

This invention pertains to the field of medicine. A new medicinal drug, -inoprotector for treating intraocular hemorrhage, myopic chorioretinal dystrophies, congenital retinal dystrophies, retinal burns and prevention of injury in lasercoagulation comprising the active substance 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-hydroxypyridine hydrochloride having the following formula: ##STR1## and a pharmaceutical diluent.

A novel chemical compound is 13-(1-oxo-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperylidenyl-4)hydrazone rubomycin hydrochloride, featuring a paramagnetic center and corresponding to the formula ##STR1## The novel compound is formed by reacting rubomycin base with 1-oxo-2,2,6,6-piperidone-4-hydrazone. The novel compound is capable of inhibiting the growth of malignant tumors and is applicable in medicine; it features reduced toxicity, higher antitumor activity and a wider range of action as compared to known rubomycin derivatives.

A process for preparing propylene oxide and acetic acid which comprises oxidation of propylene and acetaldehyde with an oxygen-containing gas in a liquid phase at a temperature of from 70.degree. to 100.degree. C. under a pressure of from 40 to 50 atm in the presence of a catalyst, viz. a boron compound of the formula BE, wherein E is a metal of IV,V,VI Groups of the periodic system, and nitrogen. The process according to the present invention makes it possible to increase selectivity of the formation of propylene oxide as calculated from the reacted acetaldehyde.

Process for preparing propylene oxide and acetic acid

A method of preparing methacrylic acid, which comprises liquid-phase oxidation of alpha-methylacrolein with an oxygen-containing gas in a medium of an organic solvent at a temperature ranging from 50.degree. to 100.degree. C and under a pressure of from 1 to 50 atm in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst such as borides, carbides or nitrides of elements pertaining to Groups IVB-VB of the periodic system, or aluminum boride, carbide or nitride and in the presence of a polymerization inhibitor, whereafter the desired product is separated from the resulting reaction mixture. The method according to the present invention makes it possible to produce methacrylic acid with a high selectivity (up to 86% as calculated for the reacted alpha-methylacrolein). Conversion degree of the starting aldehyde is as high as 55%. There is no formation of polymeric products during the oxidation process.

Method of preparing methacrylic acid

A heterogeneous catalyst for oxidation of propylene into propylene oxide in the liquid phase which is a carrier with active components supported thereon, the latter being oxides of scandium, yttrium, indium, gallium, thallium, or rare-earth elements of the lanthanum group, or mixtures of oxides of the above metals. In addition to with said active components, the catalyst can also contain silver, oxides of vanadium, molybdenum, tungsten, bismuth, manganese, or tantalum, or mixtures of the above active components. The method for preparing the catalyst consists in that the carrier is treated with an aqueous solution of a mineral acid or a mixture of mineral acids at 80.degree. to 100.degree.C, washed with water and dried at 300.degree. to 400.degree.C. The thus treated carrier is impregnated with aqueous solutions of salts of the corresponding metals. The impregnated carrier is treated at a temperature of 700.degree. to 800.degree.C. The heterogeneous catalyst ensures high selectivity (to 90 per cent) of the process of oxidation of propylene into propylene oxide in the liquid phase, the conversion of propylene being as high as 30 per cent, and also accelerates markedly the process, ensuring a reaction rate 1.5-2 times higher than the reaction rates obtainable with the known catalyst. Furthermore, said catalyst possesses high mechanical strength.
