This disclosure provides various embodiments for providing a communication layer between a portal application and a separate and independent portlet container. In one embodiment, a computer program product comprising computer readable instructions is operable when executed to expose an application programming interfaces (APIs) associated with methods permitting a portal application to invoke a portlet via the portlet container, where the portlet is run inside the portlet container. The computer program product exposes one or more service provider interfaces (SPIs) providing services implemented and used by the portlet container to obtain information about the portlet to be invoked. The computer program product further exposes an interface providing methods facilitating communications between the portal application and the portlet container during runtime of the portal application. The portal application running in combination with the portlet container implements the API, SPI, and interface during the portal application's runtime to allow for portal execution.

System and method for communication between portal applications and portlet containers

The present disclosure involves systems, software, and computer implemented methods for preserving a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) request. One process includes operations for receiving an HTTP request and generating request and response objects representing the HTTP request. Multiple child threads are generated and then executed at content providers to render content in response to the HTTP request. A first portion of the rendered content is transmitted, but the request and response objects are stored in memory and made accessible to content providers associated with pending child threads. The content providers associated with the pending child threads utilize the request and response objects to render a second portion of the content.

The method includes selecting a plurality of static tests from a test suite, executing the plurality of static tests on a plurality of files to validate the plurality of files, and storing records after executing the plurality of static tests to record the validation of the plurality of files. The system includes an application, a plurality of files inside the application, the plurality of files to describe and configure the application, a plurality of static tests to validate the plurality of files, and a framework to apply the plurality of static tests to the plurality of files.
