The present invention relates to an adaptor for a BTE hearing aid with a housing to be worn behind the ear, an earpiece for insertion in the earcanal, and a signal transmission member for transmission of a signal from the housing at a first end of the member to the earpiece at a second end of the member, the signal transmission member having a connector at the first end, wherein the housing and the connector of the signal transmission member are not adapted for mutual mechanical interconnection, wherein the adaptor has a first end that is geometrically adapted for mechanical connection with the connector of the signal transmission member and a second end that is geometrically adapted for mechanical connection with the housing, so that the signal transmission member and the housing can be mechanically interconnected through the adaptor whereby the variety of signal transmission member units to be kept in stock by a hearing aid dispenser is substantially minimized.

A hearing instrument includes a microphone for converting sound into an electric audio signal, a signal processor unit coupled to the microphone, the signal processor unit configured for operating in a plurality of states that include at least a first state and a second state, wherein the signal processor unit is configured for automatically switching at least between the first state and the second state according to a switching strategy, a speaker coupled to the signal processor unit, and a user interface that is configured to receive a user feedback regarding an automatic switching between the first state and the second state, wherein the user interface is communicatively connected to the signal processor unit and is configured to provide at least one control signal to the signal processor unit in response to the user feedback, wherein the signal processor unit is configured to receive the control signal in a predetermined input period upon the automatic switching between the first state and the second state.

Hearing instrument with user interface

A method and apparatus is provided for a hearing aid capable of determining its accumulated utilization time and making use of this information to control one or more of its functions. The control of the hearing aid's function may be obtained through alteration of parameters of a signal processing algorithm of the hearing aid or by execution of a particular transducer adjustment subroutine or algorithm. The accumulated utilization time may furthermore be utilized to provide a function that makes the hearing aid inoperative when a value of the accumulated utilization time matches some predetermined criteria, such as a predetermined limit value. Such a function is highly desirable if the hearing aid is sold in connection with a subscription arrangement between a dispenser and a hearing aid user where the user pays for his or her hearing aid through payment of regular renewal fees.

Time controlled hearing aid

A hearing aid which comprises a sound transducer, an analogue-digital converter, a digital processing and adaptation circuit for the processing of digital signals, corresponding to audio signals which are received by the transducer, storage units for the storage of data and programmes for the digital processing and adaptation circuit, a digital-analogue converter and a sound generator. The hearing aid also contains a counter, which registers the time for which the hearing aid has been in use, and a non-volatile storage unit in which the utilisation time is summed up. The hearing aid is arranged in such a manner that a comparison is made between the contents of that part of the non-volatile storage unit in which the summed-up utilisation time is stored and one or more limit values, and so that when one or more of the limit values is reached, a special function is initiated.
