An automated chest compression (CC) system is described that includes a chest compressor configured to administer chest compressions to a patient, at least one tilt adjuster configured to tilt at least the head of the patient to a tilt angle during the administration of chest compressions to the patient, a patient support structure configured to couple to the chest compressor and to the at least one tilt adjuster, one or more tilt sensors, and a CC device controller configured to control the chest compressor to administer the chest compressions at a resuscitative rate, receive one or more signals, from the one or more tilt sensors, indicative of the tilt angle, determine tilt angle information from the one or more signals indicative of the tilt angle, and provide the tilt angle information to a user interface, wherein the patient support structure is adapted to support the back of the patient.

System and methods for adaptive body positioning during chest compressions

A system for assisting cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) treatment of a patient includes a defibrillator system including a defibrillator communicatively coupled to a local computing device and configured to receive signals from treatment sensors, a patient support section, and a tilt adjuster coupled to the patient support section. The tilt adjuster is configured to communicatively couple with the defibrillator system, receive a control signal indicative of a target tilt angle from the local computing device, and automatically tilt the patient support section, around a transverse axis, to the target tilt angle in response to the control signal from the local computing device. The system also includes a chest compression device mount disposed on the patient support section and configured to adjustably secure a chest compression device to the patient support section.

Certain aspects relate to robotic medical instrument systems. Such a system can include first and second medical instruments. The first medical instrument can include an instrument base and an elongate shaft extending from the instrument base, and a robotic drive input. The first medical instrument may include an instrument inlet. The second medical instrument may include an instrument base and an elongate shaft that extends through the instrument inlet. The second medical instrument can include a robotic drive input that is coupled to a rotating element in the second medical instrument. The robotic medical instrument system can include a robotic arm that has first and second robotic drive outputs. The first robotic drive output can drive the robotic drive input of the first medical instrument, and the second robotic drive output can drive the robotic drive input of the second medical instrument.

Automated chest compression device

Devices and methods for compressing a chest of a patient includes a platform for placement under a thorax of the patient, a compression belt for extending over an anterior chest wall of the patient, a drive train operably connected to the compression belt, a motor operably connected to the compression belt through the drive train, and a control system configured to control operation of the motor to cause the drive train to tighten and loosen the compression belt in repeated cycles of compression about the thorax of the patient. Each cycle of the repeated cycles includes tightening the compression belt around the chest of the patient after tightening, causing, by the control system, the motor to cease operation of the drive train for a hold period; and at a termination of the hold period, loosening the compression belt around the chest of the patient.

A system and method for determining CPR induced chest compression depth using two sensors while accounting for different orientations of the two sensors. The system may include a first motion sensor operable to generate motion signals corresponding to motion in a first coordinate frame defined by a first set of axes and a second motion sensor operable to generate motion signals corresponding to motion in a second coordinate frame defined by a second set of axes and a control system operable to receive the motion signals from the first motion sensor and the second motion sensor, rotate the motion signals from the first motion sensor into the second coordinate frame to obtain rotated motion signals corresponding to the motion signals from the first motion sensor, and combine the rotated motion signals with the motion signals from the second motion sensor to generate an output indicative of said displacement.

A patient support structure for assisting cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) treatment of a patient is described. The patient support structure includes a base frame, one or more patient support sections supported by the base frame, at least one tilt adjuster coupled to at least one of the patient support sections and configured to tilt the at least one of the patient support sections, around a transverse axis of the patient support structure, to a tilt angle, and a chest compression (CC) device mount disposed on at least one of the patient support sections and configured to adjustably secure a CC device to the patient support structure. The tilt angle may be a target tilt angle and the patient support structure may further include a processor configured to determine the target tilt angle based on at least one of sensor input and user input.
