A method of treating a patient with a bioelectrical system is provided. The method may include inserting a probe into a first position in an anatomy of the patient, the system being provided with a plurality of electrodes; energizing a first electrode of the plurality of electrodes with a measurement level of power; determining a complex impedance in the patient's anatomy; determining whether the first position is a desired position of the probe for ablating a predetermined portion of tissue of the patient, based on the complex impedance determined; and energizing one of the plurality of electrodes with an ablation level of power, the ablation level of power being greater than the measurement level of power. An apparatus for performing BIA on a patient is also provided.

Fibroid ablation positioning device and methods

A device comprising: a first jaw having a gripping surface; a second jaw having a gripping surface, the second jaw being spaced apart from the first jaw and being configured to move between an open position and a closed position, and a sealer divider having a plurality of stops including at least: one or more distal stops, one or more proximal stops; and one or more intermediate stops that are of an intermediate height when compared to a height of the one or more distal stops and a height the one or more proximal stops, and wherein the plurality of stops are non-conductive and are distributed on the gripping surface of the first jaw, the gripping surface of the second jaw, or both, and wherein the first jaw and the second jaw have a proximal end and a distal end and the plurality of stops produce a gap that is widest at the proximal end and tapers so that a gap at the distal end is narrower than the gap at the proximal end.

Disclosed herein is a vapor therapy device for producing intra-uterine tissue effects. The device can include a shaft, including a proximal portion and a distal portion, a fluid-expandable medium, near the distal portion of the shaft, a fluid-delivery conduit, extending between the proximal portion and the distal portion of the shaft, the fluid-delivery conduit comprising an outlet, near the distal portion of the shaft, for delivery of the fluid toward the medium, and an in vivo heat generator, near the distal portion of the shaft, to heat the fluid. A method of treating a patient for menorrhagia with the device can include introducing a medium, in a contracted state, into a patient, delivering a fluid toward the medium to expand the medium in vivo; generating heat in vivo on or near the medium to vaporize the fluid, and exposing a treatment site to the vaporized fluid.

A method of guiding an endoscope to a bile duct comprises inserting the endoscope into a duodenum, engaging a sensor with biological matter, electrically analyzing biological matter with the sensor to identify an electrical parameter, identifying liver bile in the biological matter from the electrical parameter, and guiding the endoscope through the duodenum based on the bile. A stent, shunt, or plug, for at least partial insertion into a patient, can include a deformable elongated tubular body including a proximal portion and a distal portion and defining a longitudinal lumen of the tubular body therebetween. The deformable elongated body can be capable of an expanded state and a collapsed state. The tubular body can include a sheath and a plurality of magnetizable or magnetic elements for providing magnetic repulsion, after being magnetically actuated, to maintain the tubular body to maintain the expanded state.

A method of treating diverticulitis while maintaining the bioactivity of the diverticulum. The devices and methods include placing an endoscopic device within a colonic lumen relative to at least one diverticulum and inserting a plurality of particles into the at least one diverticulum. The plurality of particles can include magnetic particles, non-magnetic particles, or both. The plurality of particles can partially or totally occlude the diverticulum preventing unwanted material from entering the diverticulum. Additionally, the plurality of particles can include antimicrobial and therapeutic layers that can treat diverticulitis and prevent or minimize diverticulitis from occurring.

Devices and methods to treat and prevent diverticulitis

A surgical device such as a therapy device that can allow a surgeon to treat a target tissue with ultra-violet (UV) light ablation therapy. Endoscope with detachable camera module

A device comprising: (a) one or more markers, some or all of which are expandable rounded members that are expandable from a stored state to an expanded state and when in the expanded state each of the expandable rounded members expand to move into contact with a lumen in an organ; and (b) one or more tissue tags connected to the expandable rounded members or the expandable rounded members being made of a magnetized material; and wherein the expandable rounded members are configured to be located within and deployed from an insertion mechanism into the lumen in the organ.

Medical device with mitigation for tissue perforation

A therapy device comprises a shaft extending between proximal and distal portions, a surgical instrument located at the distal portion, a handpiece located at the proximal portion, a treatment end located at the distal end of the surgical instrument that can apply photodynamic therapy (PDT). The treatment end includes an applicator to apply a photosensitizer to a surface of a target tissue and a light emitter that can emit generated phototherapeutic light to activate the photosensitizer to ablate target tissue. A method for providing PDT to the target tissue includes inserting the therapy device into the patent, applying the photosensitizer and phototherapeutic light to a surface of the target tissue, and removing the device from the patient.

Photodynamic therapy device and methods of use

A surgical needle comprising: (a) a sensor; (b) a distal tip with the sensor being located at the distal tip; (c) a needle advancing mechanism that is adjustable to change an insertion depth; and (d) a control unit in communication with the needle advancing mechanism; wherein the sensor provides a signal to the control unit regarding a thickness of a feature of interest and the control unit controls the insertion depth based upon the signal from the sensor so that the insertion depth into the feature of interest is varied or the control unit prevents the needle advancing mechanism from activating.
