An intake manifold is provided. A first inlet is structured to receive pressurized intake air from a turbocharger. A second inlet is structured to receive exhaust gas recirculation gas from an exhaust gas recirculation system. A third inlet is structured to receive fuel from a fuel line. A plurality of outlets are structured to be fluidly coupled to an engine. An intake manifold passage extends between each of the first, second, and third inlets, and the plurality of outlets. The intake manifold passage is shaped so as to cause at least two reversals in flow direction of each of the intake air, the exhaust gas recirculation gas, and the fuel through the intake manifold passage so as to improve mixing of each of the intake air, the exhaust gas recirculation gas, and the fuel.

Two-stage engine charge air system with branch conduits

An exhaust manifold comprises a plurality of exhaust intake conduits structured to be fluidly coupled to an engine and receive exhaust gas from a corresponding cylinder of the engine. At least one exhaust intake conduit provides a reduction in an exhaust intake conduit cross-sectional area from an inlet to an outlet. A plurality of bends are each defined by a respective one of the exhaust intake conduit outlets. An exhaust intake manifold is fluidly coupled to the exhaust intake manifold and defines an exhaust intake manifold flow axis. Each of the plurality of bends is shaped so as to define n angle of approach of exhaust gas flowing therethrough. A first angle of approach of the first bend relative to the exhaust intake manifold flow axis is smaller than a second angle of approach of an inner second bend.

An exhaust system includes an exhaust manifold structured to be fluidly coupled to an engine. A turbocharger including a turbine housing is fluidly coupled to the exhaust manifold. An exhaust pulse converter includes a first portion integral to the exhaust manifold and a second portion integral to the turbine housing. The exhaust pulse converter is structured to reduce engine pumping losses by reducing cross-talk of exhaust blowdown events from the engine.

An exhaust manifold comprises a plurality of exhaust intake conduits structured to be fluidly coupled to an engine and receive exhaust gas from a corresponding cylinder of the engine. An exhaust manifold is provided comprising a first log comprising a plurality of inlet segments each having a pair of inlet ports configured to receive exhaust gas from a pair of cylinders of an engine, a second log comprising a plurality of inlet segments each having a pair of inlet ports configured to receive exhaust gas from a pair of cylinders of the engine, and a collector coupled to the logs, the collector comprising a first pair of intake openings configured to receive exhaust gas from the first log, a second pair of intake openings configured to receive exhaust gas from the second log and an outlet configured to route the exhaust gas to a turbocharger, wherein the first pair of intake openings are coupled to a pair of bellows of the first log, each of the pair of bellows being coupled to an inlet segment.

An aftercooler is provided comprising a housing, an outlet diverter coupled to the housing and having an outlet port, and an inlet diffuser comprising a forward wall having a peripheral rim coupled to the housing, an upper wall connected to the forward wall, a lower wall connected to the forward wall, a first side wall connected to the upper wall and the lower wall and having a first end disposed adjacent the peripheral rim and a second end disposed adjacent an inlet port of the inlet diffuser, a second side wall connected to the upper wall and the lower wall and having a first end disposed adjacent the peripheral rim and a second end disposed adjacent the inlet port, and a plurality of fins disposed within an interior volume of the inlet diffuser collectively distributing air across an outlet opening of the inlet diffuser for delivery to the housing.
