In some aspects, a server device may obtain information relating to a location of a device that is to be delivered to a physical location associated with a recipient. The server device may transmit, based at least in part on the information indicating that the location of the device is at the physical location of the recipient, a first communication prompting the recipient to indicate whether the recipient is in possession of the device. The server device may receive a second communication indicating whether the recipient is in possession of the device. The server device may transmit a signal to cause a change of an activation state of one or more operations of the device based at least in part on whether the second communication indicates that the recipient is in possession of the device. Numerous other aspects are described.

Remote activation or deactivation of a device for theft deterrence

Described are techniques for sharing data among a group of mobile devices that are registered to the same user. In some instances, the shared data is sensor data captured by a mobile device or media content being processed by the mobile device. The mobile devices in the group are configured to wirelessly communicate with each other and to share status information. Using the status information, the mobile devices can keep each other updated as to the operational status of each individual mobile device and, in some aspects, the status of a mobile device with respect to the user. The sensor data or media content can be forwarded to a different mobile device in response to a determination made based on the status information. For instance, forwarding can be based on a rule that specifies one or more conditions relating to the status of a mobile device and/or user status.

Data sharing among user devices

Disclosed herein are techniques for reducing power consumption of an electronic tracking device. The electronic tracking device includes a wireless communication subsystem and an always-on low-power sensor for sensing the motions of the electronic tracking device. A controller of the electronic tracking device controls the operations of the wireless communication subsystem based on the detection signals from the always-on low-power sensor such that the wireless communication subsystem is only activated when motions of the electronic tracking device have stopped for a threshold period of time, or when a query from a server is received when the wireless communication subsystem is in a standby mode.

Systems and methods are disclosed that may selectively determine network connection information in a wearable wireless device. A wearable wireless device may communicate with a first wireless device associated with a wireless network, estimate a separation distance to the first wireless device, and compare a first network identifier of the wearable wireless device with a second network identifier of the first wireless device. The wearable wireless device may then selectively receive, from the first wireless device, network connection information for the wireless network based, at least in part, on the comparison and the separation distance.

A method for allowing multiple devices to communicate includes initiating a multi-media communication session between a first device and a second device, each of the first and second device having access to at least one additional device, identifying at least a portion of the multi-media communication session to direct to the at least one additional device, the first device obtaining a unique identifier of the at least one additional device and directing the identified at least a portion of the multi-media communication session to the at least one additional device.

System and method for allowing multiple devices to communicate in a network

A system and method are provided for a multi-network wireless communications access terminal (AT) to access multi-network coverage. The method registers a multi-network AT in a first communications network. In response to registering with the first network, the AT receives information via the first network that is required for accessing a second communications network (e.g., an IEEE 802.20 or 1xEV-DO network). The AT obtains services accessed via the second network, in response to the access information received via the first network. For example, the second network access information may be system information, channel information, or access point parameters. The AT retains the option of obtaining services accessed via the first network if the second network cannot be accessing the second network.

The embodiments may include a wearable device that may receive from a mobile device a request to wirelessly connect to the wearable device. The wearable device may recognize termination of the first wireless connection by the mobile device and send to the mobile device a second request to establish a second wireless connection. The wearable device may establish the second wireless connection between the mobile device and the wearable device.

In an embodiment, a client device (CD) maintains a contact profile for a user of the CD, the contact profile including a universal identifier (UID) for the user and a list of devices and addresses at which the user of the CD can be contacted. The CD establishes a communication session with a remote CD (RCD) via a given contact address from the set of contact addresses for the RCD. The CD shares, in response to the communication session establishment, at least a portion of the contact profile to the RCD. The RCD generates and/or updates a given contact profile for the user of the CD that is maintained on the RCD based on the shared contact profile. The RCD can also share its profile with the CD in response to the communication session establishment, causing the CD to generate and/or update a contact profile for the RCD.

Aspects for enhancing call control for directing a content path over multiple connections may include a method which includes establishing a first connection to a destination to use as a content path, receiving information from the destination for establishing an alternative connection, establishing as the alternative connection a background connection to the destination based on the information received, evaluating whether the background connection is preferable to the first connection for use as the content path, and switching the content path to the background connection when the background connection is preferable. Another method may include establishing a first connection as a content path and a background connection simultaneously to a destination for exchanging call traffic representing the same content, evaluating whether the background connection is preferable to the first connection for use as the content path, and switching the content path to the background connection when the background connection is preferable.

Enhanced call control for directing a content path over multiple connections

A system and method are provided for a multi-network wireless communications access terminal (AT) to access multi-network coverage. The method registers a multi-network AT in a first communications network. In response to registering with the first network, the AT receives information via the first network that is required for accessing a second communications network (e.g., an IEEE 802.20 or 1&#xd7;EV-DO network). The AT obtains services accessed via the second network, in response to the access information received via the first network. For example, the second network access information may be system information, channel information, or access point parameters. The AT retains the option of obtaining services accessed via the first network if the second network cannot be accessing the second network.

A personal hub for managing notifications across mobile devices and for separating the notification from the content. By separately managing the manner of notification provided to the user from its associated content, the personal hub may give a user more control over a number of mobile devices by allowing the user to escalate or dismiss different notifications across one or more mobile devices. Notifications may be managed based on device settings, priority settings, privilege settings, urgency flags, and/or other factors. In an embodiment, the user may receive an unobtrusive user-perceptible notification of an incoming communication from a personal hub that is less obtrusive than notifications which may be generated by the mobile device receiving the incoming communication.

Systems and methods for providing notifications

Systems and methods are described that facilitate evaluating conditions of nodes (e.g., access points, access terminals, etc.) in a wireless communication environment to determine a level of disadvantage for a given node relative to other nodes. A first node may receive a resource utilization message (RxRUM) and may determine a level of disadvantage for a node that sent the RxRUM. The first node may then compare its own level of disadvantage to the sending node in order to permit a determination of an appropriate course of action in response to the RxRUM.
