A deep-drawn paper tray made of paper material, a method and an apparatus for manufacturing the tray, and a closed product package comprising the tray. The tray having a bottom and upwardly expanding side walls around the bottom, the side walls of the tray being shaped to expand through a plurality of circumferential steps dimensioned low enough for obtaining wrinkle-free side walls for the tray. The outermost step is a flat, wrinkle-free rim flange, which enables liquid and gas proof heat-sealing of a lid to form the package. The apparatus may comprise upper and lower moulding tools with concentric movable frames for forming the tray bottom and side wall steps from paper blanks, and moulding tools may be mounted onto a rotating turret carrying a paper blank through working stations arranged along the turret circumference, to shape the tray bottom and the side wall steps at the consecutive stations.

The invention relates to a cup package made of a fiber-based material and to a method for manufacturing it. The package comprises a cupfor the productto be packaged and a lidfor closing the cup mouth. In accordance with the invention, the lid is partially nested in the cup, the adhesion between the inner surface of the cup and the lid retaining the lid in position. Adjacent beads, such as mouth rollshave been formed at the mouth of the cup and the edge of the lid, the beads acting as solder bases for the user's fingers/when the package is opened. The lid can be formed by connecting a discoid centreand a surrounding frameand by equipping the frame with a mouth roll by a technique corresponding to the manufacture of a cup formed of a bottomand a mantleconnected to this.

A paper roll core, which includes a tag and wherein the tag is a tag which is radio-readable and includes a flexible element. The core has its end face provided with a recess with a bottom and a wall, in which the tag is fitted in an at least partially coiled configuration. For example, the tag can be glued in the recess. Alternatively or additionally, the tag can be retained substantially stationary by a springback force evolved as a result of coiling the flexible element, bracing the flexible element against a wall and/or a bottom included in the recess.

In a method for forming a package, a package with the shape of a container is formed of a cardboard blank, the package having a bottom and side walls extending upwards from the bottom. At the end stage of compression molding, a rim of molding material extending sideways is molded to the upper part of the side walls when the mold is kept closed in such a way that a mold cavity corresponding to the rim is formed by moving a counter surface inside the mold backwards from a surface opposite to it, after which the molding material is introduced into the mold cavity.

Method for forming a package and a package

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing board (), a board provided by the method, and a container formed from the same, such as a disposable drinking cup. According to the invention, fiber-based stock is doped with a polymer (), ending in a pulp web that is formed of this pulp on a board machine wire, and in a board layer () that is obtained from the same by pressing and drying. When the board layer is heated, the polymer melts and water vapor bubbles penetrate it, rendering the layer porous. The polymer used for the doping can comprise, for example, a low density polyethylene (LDPE) that has a melt viscosity of about 15. Pore-generating heating can be carried out for the board or only for the container manufactured from it. The porous layer prevents the hot drink enjoyed from the cup from burning the fingers of the user.
