A device for authenticating an organisation requesting access to user data, comprising: network interface circuitry configured to communicate over a network, and processing circuitry configured to: receive, via the network interface circuitry, encrypted user data from an information processing apparatus; generate a unique identifier to associate with a decryption key used for decrypting the encrypted user data; provide the encrypted user data and the unique identifier to a publically available database for storage immutably therein or thereon; store the decryption key in association with the unique identifier; receive, via the network interface circuitry, a request to access the user data from an organisation; establish that the requesting organisation is an approved organisation; and in the event that the requesting organisation is an approved organisation; transmit, via the network interface circuitry, the decryption key to the requesting organisation.

A method of mapping an object to a location in a virtual space includes acquiring objects which are to be mapped to respective locations in a virtual space and assigning each respective location in the virtual space a prominence value representing the prominence of an object at the location when the virtual space is viewed by a user. The prominence value is assigned according to a distance of each location from a reference location in the virtual space and at least one physiological characteristic of a user. The method also includes mapping each object to a respective location in the virtual space according to a priority level associated with at least some of the objects and the prominence value assigned to each respective location in the virtual space.

A method of mapping an object to a location in a virtual space, the method comprising assigning to locations in the virtual space a prominence value representing the prominence of an object at the location when the virtual space is viewed by a user, the prominence value being assigned according to a distance from each location to a reference location in the virtual space and at least one physiological characteristic of a user, determining a purchase value for the locations in the virtual space representing a payment required to place an object at respective locations in the virtual space, the purchase value being determined at least according to the prominence value assigned to a respective location in the virtual space and in response to receiving the payment for a location in the virtual space, mapping the object to that location in the virtual space.

Video content replay

An apparatus for selecting television programs for display on a display device, for example a television, includes a receiver receiving audio/video data representing the television programs and receiving data indicating a schedule for the television programs. A control process receives an indication for at least one of the television programs to be broadcast providing a status of an availability for streaming the television program after the television program has been broadcast, and in response to the indication of the status of the availability for streaming the television program to perform a predetermined action in accordance with predetermined conditions. The predetermined actions may include, for example, recording the television program or generating a prompt for the user to watch the broadcast television program in response to an indication by the availability status that the television program will not be made available for streaming after being broadcast.

A television signal recording apparatus comprises a recording unit that makes recordings of television signals and stores metadata representing information in respect of the recordings including the channel and the recording time. A graphical display of made recordings and scheduled recordings is produced in which graphical objects representing respective recordings are arranged in two dimensions, ordered in a first dimension on the basis of the channels and ordered in a second dimension on the basis of the recording times. In the second dimension, the graphical objects are arranged along a time axis which includes discontinuities at times when no recording is present, the discontinuities being graphically represented by graphical symbols that are different according to the period of the discontinuity. An electronic program guide is produced with a similar format, the programs being filtered to select programs and discontinuities being present at times where there is no selected program.

Television signal recording

A digital television recorder to record television programs, having a recording section to record data onto a storage medium, a filter to identify from a received transport stream, data of a television program for recording, a timer to be set with a time and, at that time, to start the recording onto the storage medium, data of the television program received from the filter, and a cache to store data of the interactive services associated with the television programs and provided in the respective transport streams. The filter identifies data of interactive services associated with the television programs, the timer starts, at a predetermined interval before the time, acquisition of the data of interactive services and storing acquired data of interactive services in the cache, and the recording section records, immediately prior to starting recording the data of the television program, the content of the cache to the storage medium.

Recording interactive services

A television device for receiving and storing an electronic programme guide, the electronic programme guide including a plurality of programme entries for respective television programmes, each programme entry having a title field including title data for the title of the respective programme and having a timing field including timing data for timing of the respective programme. Title fields of the electronic programme guide are searched to find titles matching the title of the start programme and candidate programmes are identified accordingly. The timings of the identified candidate programmes are compared with a timing profile representing expected consecutive programme occurrences. On the basis of correlation of the timing data with the timing profile, a consecutive programme in the programme series is identified.
