There is provided organic light emitting diode (OLED) device that include an organic electroluminescent layer formed between a first electrode and a second electrode. The organic electroluminescent layer is formed of a photo-crosslinkable liquid having dichroic molecules therein, and has a grating pattern defined therein by exposure of regions of the organic electroluminescent layer to a light beam. The refractive index of the exposed regions of the organic electroluminescent layer varies across the grating pattern. A method for fabricating the OLED device is also provided that includes providing the organic electroluminescent layer and defining the grating pattern in the photo-crosslinkable liquid by illuminating regions of the organic electroluminescent layer with a light beam. The refractive index of the defined grating pattern is tuned by adjusting the dosage of light to which the photo-crosslinkable liquid is exposed.

Organic light emitting diode structure and method of forming same

An organic light emitting diode (OLED) having an organic electroluminescent layer formed between a first electrode and a second electrode. One of the first and second electrodes is a transparent electrode having a surface through which light is emitted from the OLED to the outside. The transparent electrode has a plasmonic photonic crystal structure fabricated having an artificial lattice with a pitch in density variation intermediate in size between a metallic crystal and a photonic crystal formed in the same material as the transparent electrode, thereby operable to suppress propagation of the surface plasmon polaritons at the surface.

Organic light emitting diode structure

A frequency tuneable laser device includes a cavity mode selector and a cavity tuning arrangement. The cavity mode selector has a frequency response with a selection feature that is alignable in frequency with a selected cavity mode of the laser device. The cavity tuning arrangement includes a plurality of reflective elements arranged in optical series, and is used to adjust the effective optical path length of the laser cavity to move the cavity modes in frequency. The laser device further includes making the cavity mode selector and the cavity tuning arrangement perform a simultaneous coordinated movement such that respective frequencies of the selection feature and the selected cavity mode vary with substantially the same dependence on a parameter characterizing the simultaneous coordinated movement. For example, a periscope with a co-rotating etalon can be used to provide mode hop free tuning of the laser device.

Laser device

There is provided an organic light emitting diode (OLED) comprising an organic electroluminescent layer formed between a first electrode and a second electrode, characterized in that one of the first and second electrodes comprises a nano-meter metallic layer having a plasmonic photonic crystal structure formed thereon, and wherein the plasmonic photonic crystal structure is configured to interact with surface plasmon polaritons generated at a surface of the ne electrode thereby providing for transmission of electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength of between 350 nm to 750 nm from the OLED.

There is provided an organic light emitting diode (OLED) comprising an organic electroluminescent layer formed between a first electrode and a second electrode, characterised in that organic electroluminescent layer comprises a nano-structured grating pattern provided therein, wherein the grating is configured to modify the refractive index of the electroluminescent layer.

A non-coherent light emitting device having at least one organic light emitting or organic charge transporting layer and a structure providing a Bragg grating associated with the light emitting layer is described. The organic light emitting layer having liquid crystalline material is treated to provide alternating zones of isotropic and liquid crystalline material. The combination of alternating zones with the dichroic effects of the aligned zone produces a pseudo 2-D Bragg grating within the light emitting layer.

Organic light emitting diode devices

A tunable narrow linewidth laser is provided, wherein an adjustable etalon structure is employed to simultaneously tune the wavelength of the laser transmission and the length of the laser cavity. The etalon structure is an effective, relatively thick shear plate comprised of transparent matched wedge-shaped substrates and a pair of parallel, partially transmissive mirrors with a space therebetween. Rotation of the etalon structure relative to the laser input changes the angle of incidence to the first substrate and the etalon angle, thereby changing the wavelength of the laser light and also changing the length of the external laser cavity. Thus, reliable frequency tuning is achieved, without mode hopping.

External cavity tunable laser with an air gap etalon comprising wedges

A laser apparatus for nonlinear conversion of light is disclosed utilizing a laser diode having a reflective back facet and a front facet having a reflectance of less than about 1% for emitting a multifrequency optical beam, and a nonlinear optical element for receiving the multifrequency optical beam and for generating a frequency-converted radiation. An external frequency-selective reflector is provided for power and spectral stabilization of the multifrequency optical beam, and for confining its optical spectrum within a bandwidth of efficient nonlinear conversion in the nonlinear optical element. The laser diode reflective back facet and the external frequency-selective reflector form an extended laser cavity. In operation, the multifrequency optical beam contains a plurality of longitudinal modes of the extended laser cavity which are confined within the frequency conversion bandwidth of the nonlinear element. The external frequency-selective reflector may comprise a waveguiding element such as a single-mode fiber incorporating a Bragg grating, and may also comprise a Fabry-Perot etalon.
