A torque converter includes an impeller having an impeller shell and an impeller hub attached to a radially extending end of the impeller shell. The torque converter further includes a cap slidably engageable with the impeller hub. The cap includes a base and an inner ring portion. The inner ring portion is configured to be received by the impeller hub and includes an end spaced from the base. The end is configured to extend radially outside of an inner surface of the impeller hub in an installed position.

A method of assembling a resolver rotor to a hub of a transmission assembly is provided. The method includes: forming a generally axially extending groove in an outer surface of the hub, the groove extending at an assembly angle greater than 0 degrees relative to an axial direction from a hub end toward a hub base, the assembly angle being positive in a direction that is opposite to a rotation direction of the hub in use; forming a projection on an inner surface of the resolver rotor, the projection being configured to have an interference fit with the groove upon assembly; and assembling the resolver rotor onto the hub with the at least one projection traveling along and interfering with a portion of the at least one groove as the resolver rotor moves to a seated position toward the hub base. A transmission assembly is also provided.

A hybrid module includes a torque converter and a clutch assembly. The torque converter includes a front cover. The clutch assembly includes a piston axially spaced from the front cover. The piston is axially slidable to engage the clutch assembly. The clutch assembly further includes a seal plate non-rotatably connected to the front cover and sealed to the piston. A seal is compressed between the seal plate and the front cover.

A torque converter, including: an impeller supported for rotation around an axis of rotation and including an impeller shell and at least one impeller blade non-rotatably connected to the impeller shell; a cover arranged to receive a rotational torque and including a distal portion including an interior surface in contact with the impeller shell, and an expanded radius portion extending from the distal portion in an axial direction and including an interior surface facing at least partly in a radially inner direction pointing toward the axis of rotation; and a turbine in fluid communication with the impeller and including a turbine shell and at least one turbine blade non-rotatably connected to the turbine shell. The interior surface of the expanded radius portion is located further in a radially outer direction than the interior surface of the distal portion.

A hydrodynamic side plate for a stator in a torque converter includes a first radial surface, a second radial surface opposite the first radial surface, a first axial restriction surface on the first radial surface opposite an inner race of a stator assembly, a second axial restriction surface on the first radial surface opposite locking components of the stator assembly, and a plurality of hydrodynamic pads in the second radial surface separated by a plurality of corresponding radial grooves. The first axial restriction surface is configured to restrict axial movement of the inner race of the stator assembly. The second axial restriction surface is configured to restrict axial movement of the locking components of the stator assembly. The second radial surface comprises at least two anti-rotation tabs configured to prevent relative motion with the stator assembly.

The centrifugal pendulum absorber includes a center plate; a roller received in a roller slot formed in the center plate; and a first mass on a rear axial side of the center plate and a second mass on a front axial side of the center plate. The first and second masses are slidable with respect to the center plate along the slot roller. The first mass includes a first radially extending section and a first axial protrusion extending axially past a rear-side axial surface of the first radially extending section. The second mass includes a second radially extending section and a second axial protrusion extending axially past a front-side axial surface of the second radially extending section. A torque converter is provided. The torque converter includes a cover. The cover includes a radially extending section and an axially extending section extending axially from an outer radial end of the radially extending section. The torque converter also includes at least one baffle assembly attached to the radially extending section or the axially extending section of the cover. The present invention broadly comprises a blade for a torque converter stator including a body, a first end, and a second end; a stator blade assembly; and a stator for a torque converter including a plurality of blades, a housing, and a core ring. The first end is arranged to engage the housing and the second end is arranged to engage the core ring. In some aspects, the blade is stamped or the body is arcuate. The assembly includes a plurality of separate blades. In some aspects, each blade is stamped or bodies for adjacent blades at least partially overlap with respect to a radial plane through an axis for the stator. In some aspects, an axial opening between blades widens radially outward or inward.

The present invention broadly comprises a torque converter including a cover arranged to accept torque from a drive unit and an impeller. The cover and the impeller are joined by a crimped connection. In some aspects, the converter includes a sealing element disposed between the cover and the impeller and the sealing element is selected from the group consisting of an o-ring and a gasket. In some aspects, the cover is a cast piece. In some aspects, the cover is formed by a process selected from the group consisting of: molding, compression molding, and pressed metal forming. In some aspects, the cover is a stamped metal piece. The present invention also broadly comprises a torque converter including a cover, an impeller, and an induction brazed connection joining the cover and impeller. In some aspects, the cover further comprises axially disposed fingers engaged with the impeller.
