A method for monitoring one or more formation fluids in a subterranean formation. The method may include disposing a logging while drilling (LWD) system into a wellbore, measuring the one or more formation fluids in the subterranean formation with an electromagnetic (EM) measurement system disposed on the LWD system to form an EM data set, and inverting the EM data set using an information handling system to form a first image of the one or more formation fluids in the subterranean formation. The method may further include disposing the LWD system into the wellbore a second time, taking a second measurement the one or more formation fluids in the subterranean formation with an EM measurement system disposed on the LWD system to form a second EM data set, inverting the second EM data set using the information handling system to form a second image, and comparing the first image to the second.

Fluid monitoring in oil and gas wells using ultra-deep azimuthal electromagnetic logging while drilling tools

This disclosure presents methods and processes to estimate a position parameter, an orientation parameter, a dip parameter, and a diameter parameter of an object or subterranean formation change proximate an active borehole. The object or formation can be an adjacent borehole. The parameters can be utilized by a geo-steering system or a well site job plan system to reduce an uncertainty surrounding or looking ahead of the active borehole to avoid a collision with the object or formation, to intercept the object or formation, or to place the active borehole in a more advantageous position. The parameters can be derived from collected component resistivity data that has been reconstructed utilizing a three-dimensional inversion algorithm. In some aspects, low resistivity data can be extracted to improve the estimating of the parameters. In some aspects, the process can be implemented in a downhole tool, in a surface system, or a combination thereof.

The disclosed embodiments include systems and methods to evaluate formation resistivity. In one embodiment, a method to evaluate formation resistivity proximate a wellbore is provided. The methods includes receiving data indicative of resistivity measurements of a formation proximate a wellbore at different distances within a range of distances from the wellbore. The method also includes analyzing the data to determine approximate formation resistivity of the formation at different distances from the wellbore. The method further includes generating at least one curve, each indicative of an approximate formation resistivity of the formation at the different distances from the wellbore, overlaying the at least one curve on a graph indicative of the formation resistivity of the formation within the range of distances from the wellbore, and providing the at least one curve overlaid on the graph for display on a device.

Formation resistivity evaluation system

In some embodiments, an apparatus and a system, as well as a method and an article, may operate to determine a compressional velocity (CV) of a geological formation, to determine a reflection coefficient (RC) associated with the geological formation, and to determine a density of the geological formation based on the CV and the RC. The CV and RC may be determined from values associated with sonic and ultrasonic velocity measurements. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are described.
