A method by an electromagnetic device includes determining a pattern of electromagnetic energy absorbed by a load disposed inside a cavity into which electromagnetic radiation is directed and generating one or more maps of the pattern of electromagnetic energy absorbed by the load. The one or more maps comprises an indication of a distribution of heating within the load. The method further includes determining, based on the one or more maps, a plurality of sequences of operating parameter combinations configured so as to heat the load via absorption of the electromagnetic radiation in accordance with a target temperature profile with respect to the load. The method thus includes emitting electromagnetic radiation into the cavity based on the plurality of sequences of operating parameter combinations to achieve the target temperature profile with respect to the load.

Both an intensity level of the one or more illumination sources and a position or an orientation of the head unit are adjustable. A method for controlling content rendering by a multi-view, directionally dependent display includes defining a first display as a first pixel of a pixelated array of the multi-view display, the first display associated with a first viewing angle relative to a first axis; and defining a second display as a second pixel of the pixelated array, the second display. The method includes controlling chromatic properties of the first pixel by applying a filter based on a rendering of first content to be displayed. The method also includes controlling chromatic properties of the second pixel by applying a filter based on a rendering of second content to be displayed; and controlling points of incidence of light from the first and second pixel relative to an optical multiplexer thereby changing the directionality of the multi-view, directionally dependent display.

In one embodiment, a method includes accessing real-time content captured by a first user's client device, where the real-time content is captured at a first high quality and is one of a plurality of content frames in a real-time stream of content. The method includes downgrading the quality of the real-time content to a second lower quality for transmission to a second user and transmitting the downgraded content to the second user. The method includes determining, based on a request made by the second user, an area of interest of a subsequent real-time image, where the subsequent real-time image is at the first high quality, modifying the subsequent real-time image to focus on the area of interest, where the modified subsequent real-time image is at the first high quality, and downgrading and transmitting the modified subsequent real-time image for to the second user.

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a multi-view display that includes several pixels. The apparatus includes a parallax barrier that overlays the several pixels of the multi-view display. The parallax barrier includes several barrier rows that are arrayed in a first dimension, where each barrier row includes several barriers arrayed in a second dimension. Each of the barriers are separated from adjacent barriers in the barrier row by an aperture. Each barrier row is offset from adjacent barrier rows by a macro offset distance in the second dimension. A portion of each barrier is offset by a micro offset distance in the second dimension, where the micro offset distance is smaller than the macro offset distance.

In one embodiment, a method includes generating, at a multi-view display, a first content to be viewed at a first angle and a second content to be viewed at a second angle. The first content and the second content are displayed simultaneously. The method also includes receiving, at a touch-screen panel coupled to the multi-view display, a first plurality of capacitive signals. The method then generates, by the touch-screen panel, a first touch-screen panel heatmap based on the received first plurality of capacitive signals. The method afterwards determines, based on the first touch-screen panel heatmap, whether a first user input is received with respect to the first content or the second content. The method then assigns, based on determining the first user input corresponds to either the first content or the second content, the first user input to the first content or the second content.

Identifying users using capacitive sensing in a multi-view display system

A system and method for a hybrid multimode input device includes a multimode input device capable of a two-dimensional (2D) mode of operation and a three-dimensional (3D) mode of operation. The device includes a two-dimensional (2D) position sensor, a three-dimensional (3D) position sensor, and a processor. The processor is configured to enter a 3D input mode when the processor detects that the input device is in a first orientation, and enter a 2D input mode when the processor detects that the input device is in a second orientation. The 2D input mode is configured to provide 2D position data to a connected computer system, and wherein the 3D input mode is configured to provide 3D position data to the connected computer system.

System and method for multipurpose input device for two-dimensional and three-dimensional environments

A method includes determining one or more controlled viewpoints of a multi-user display which includes a pixelated array and a directional multiplexer, and for each viewpoint of the one or more controlled viewpoints, determining first content to be displayed to the controlled viewpoint according to a visibility criterion. The method further includes, for each viewpoint of the one or more controlled viewpoints, determining a first subset of pixels of the pixelated array whose visibility from the controlled viewpoint satisfies the visibility criterion, and rendering the first content to be displayed on the first subset of pixels of the pixelated array.

Multi-user personal display system and applications thereof

A method of rendering content for display on a multi-view display includes assigning a first display to a first pixel of a pixelated array, with a plurality of pixels periodically spaced along a first axis, the first display associated with a first viewing angle relative to the first axis. The method includes assigning a second display to a second pixel of the pixelated array, display associated with a second viewing angle relative to the first axis. The method further includes controlling a filter value of the first pixel based on a rendering of first content for display, and controlling a filter value of the second pixel based on a rendering of second content for display. The first viewing angle belongs to a first range of viewing angles of an optical multiplexer disposed in front of the pixelated array.
