Certain aspects of the disclosure are directed to in-phase/quadrature (IQ) mismatch detection and correction in radio frequency receivers. According to a specific example, a method of manufacture or use comprises, in a quadrature radio-frequency receiver configured to process signals using I and Q components, providing parameters indicative of IQ mismatches associated with circuitry of the quadrature radio-frequency receiver due to changes in signal gain. The method further includes, while using the quadrature radio-frequency receiver to receive and process a received radio signal, correcting for the IQ mismatches by using the parameters in response to actual signal gain change.

An integrated circuit including: an RF input/output; an on-chip digital interface including a plurality of IC pin connections wherein an output current from the on-chip digital interface is split into first and second parallel paths among the plurality of IC pin connections; first and second current sources; and a controller, wherein the controller is configured to determine a plurality of mutual inductances between the plurality of IC pin connections and the RF input/output; calculate a current ratio n based upon the plurality of mutual inductances between a first current driven on the first parallel path and a second current driven on the second parallel path; drive the first current source to produce the first current and the second current source to produce the second current wherein the first and second current have the determined ratio n; and measure a voltage at the RF input/output.

Tuning asymmetry of a differential digital interface to cancel magnetic coupling

A gain-controlled amplifier comprises two signal output stages arranged in parallel to drive an output load in series. A maximum-gain stage provides a maximum of signal gain and the other minimum-gain stage fixes the minimum overall amplifier signal gain. Gain-control input signals differentially applied to the two such stages balance the contributions of the respective gain stages delivered to the common output load. In one aspect, a third shunting transistor is used across the minimum-gain stage. In another version, the output load is a tapped resistor and the respective maximum and minimum gain stages drive different taps.
