There is provided a membrane that includes a plurality of polyimide fibers encased in a fluoropolymer sheath, the plurality of fibers having a diameter of from about 10 nm to about 50 microns, wherein the plurality of fibers form a permeable non-woven mat. A method of manufacturing the membrane is provided.

Provided herein is a surface treatment method of oil contaminated xerographic prints which increases the adhesion of the print to levels close to the values corresponding to the original uncontaminated paper. Subjecting the contaminated surface to corona treatment alone and in combination with ultraviolet (UV) radiation and ozone can change the chemical structure of the surface of the paper in such a way that a highly polar surface is created as a consequence of this treatment, leading to enhanced adhesion properties of the xerographic print.

The present teachings provide a fuser member. The fuser member includes an outer layer comprising a composite of a fluoropolymer and a networked siloxyfluorocarbon polymer.

A surface treatment method of oil contaminated xerographic prints which increases the surface energy of the print to levels close to the values corresponding to the original uncontaminated paper. Subjecting the contaminated surface to both ultraviolet (UV) radiation and ozone can change the chemical structure of the surface of the paper in such a way that a highly polar surface is created as a consequence of this treatment, leading to enhanced adhesion properties of the xerographic print.

Exemplary embodiments provide methods for treating a xerographic printed substrate with an enzyme solution to increase the surface free energy of the substrate. Other exemplary embodiments provide methods for making an adhesive medium with an enzyme-treated substrate.

The present teachings disclose a surface coating. The surface coating includes a fluoroplastic having dispersed therein aerogel particles wherein the aerogel particles comprise from about 0.1 weight percent to about 25 weight percent of the surface coating. The surface coating is useful as an out layer for fuser members.

Exemplary embodiments provide a method and a system that can include a combined UV radiation and ozone treatment for reducing contamination built-up on surfaces of image members within a printing system.

Reduction of contamination on image members by UV ozone treatment

A method and system for reducing contamination build-up within a fuser roll system are disclosed. The method and system includes a donor roll in rotational combination with a fuser roll. The donor roll can be configured to transfer a toner release agent to the fuser roll to reduce toner build-up on the surface of the fuser roll. A grounded static brush can be located proximate to the donor roll. The grounded static brush can be configured to inductively remove electrostatic discharge from the surface of the donor roll. The reduced electrostatic reduces contamination build-up on the fuser roll, and therefore increases the cycle life of the components of the fuser roll system.

A toner having an amorphous resin, a crystalline resin, and a colorant, wherein the crystalline resin has a melting temperature of at least 70&#xb0; C. and a recrystallization point of at least 47&#xb0; C. exhibits improved document offset properties and improved heat cohesion. Annealing the toner further improves the heat cohesion and morphology of the toner.
