The present invention relates to methods for controlling pest infestation using double stranded RNA molecules. The invention provides methods for producing transgenic cells expressing the double stranded RNA molecules, as well as compositions and commodity products containing or treated with such molecules.

Methods for controlling pests using RNAi

The invention pertains to novel insecticidal compounds derived fromstrains. New proteins designated Cry1Jd, Cry9Fa, and Cry1Bf, and insecticidal fragments thereof are provided, as well as DNA sequences encoding these proteins or their insecticidal fragments. Further provided are recombinant hosts expressing such proteins, particularly plant cells and plants.

The present invention relates to new DNA sequences encoding an insecticidal Cry9Fa protein and insecticidal parts thereof, which are useful to protect plants from insect damage. Also included herein are micro-organisms and plants transformed with a DNA sequence encoding an insecticidal Cry9Fa protein and processes for controlling insects and to obtain a plant resistant to insects.

Novel bacterial insecticidal proteins and equivalents thereof were isolated. These proteins and the DNA sequences encoding them are useful to make insecticidal compositions or transgenic plants to protect plants from damage by insects, particularly coleopteran insects.

The invention provides DNA sequences encoding insecticidal secreted proteins from bacteria and transgenic plants having insecticidal activity against coleopteran insect pests. Methods of protecting plants from damage by insects by transforming the plants with chimeric genes comprising DNA sequences encoding the insecticidal secreted proteins are also provided.
