An image capture device may capture a video. A part of the video may include depiction of an object of interest, and another part of the video may not include depiction of the object of interest. Stabilization of the video may switch between object stabilization and movement stabilization based on whether or not the video depicts the object of interest. The part of the video depicting the object of interest may be stabilized using object stabilization. The part of the video not depicting the object of interest may be stabilized using movement stabilization.

An image capture device continuously generates time-lapse video frames to be included within a time-lapse video using a dynamic time-lapse video frame rate, with the value of the dynamic time-lapse video frame rate changing based on activation of a trigger to change the dynamic time-lapse video frame rate. The dynamic time-lapse video frame rate alternates between different values.

Image capture device for generating time-lapse videos

Images may be captured by a moving image capture device. A reference image and a background image may be selected from the images. The reference image may include depiction of an object, with the object blocking view of the background. The background image may include depiction of the background blocked by the object in the reference image. An object layer may be generated by segmenting the depiction of the object from the reference image. A background layer may be generated by combining the depiction of the background in the background image with the reference image. The background layer may be blurred and combined with the object layer to generate a panning image.

An image capture device may be calibrated using calibration parameters. Optical medium through which the image capture device captures images may be changed. The calibration parameters of the image capture device may be dynamically modified to account for the change in the optical medium. The image capture device may be operated in accordance with the modified calibration parameters to capture images through the optical medium.

Apparent motion between pairs of images may be used to determine a visual-based time-lapse video frame rate factor. An image capture device continuously generates time-lapse video frames to be included within a time-lapse video using a time-lapse video frame rate, with the value of the time-lapse video frame rate changing based on activation of a trigger to change the time-lapse video frame rate.

Positions of an image capture device may be used to estimate a time-lapse video frame rate with which time-lapse video frames are generated. The time-lapse video frame rate may be adjusted based on apparent motion between pairs of generated time-lapse video frames. The adjusted time-lapse video frame rate may be used to generate additional time-lapse video frames.

Captured images of a scene may include depictions of objects moving within the scene. The portions of the images depicting the moving objects may be identified by aligning the images and analyzing the changes in pixel values of the aligned images. For the portion of the images depicting the moving objects, the pixels values may be replaced with mean, mode, and/or median values that approximate the value that would have been captured without the moving objects, and one or more image without the depiction of moving objects may be generated.
