An example method includes determining, by the one or more processors, an actual orientation of a surgical pin as installed in a bone of a patient; obtaining, by the one or more processors, a planned orientation of the surgical pin; determining, by the one or more processors and based on a comparison between the actual orientation of the surgical pin and the planned orientation of the surgical pin, whether the surgical pin was installed as planned; and responsive to determining that the surgical pin was not installed as planned, outputting, via a visualization device, virtual guidance to assist a surgeon in correcting the installation of the surgical pin.

A reaming guide for reaming a bone is disclosed. The reaming guide includes a peripheral member configured to mate with a peripheral guide feature; a rigid body extending from the peripheral member to adjacent to a reaming head of a reamer, where the rigid body is configured to be mounted to the reamer proximal of the reaming head; and a depth stop coupled with the rigid body, the depth stop having a distal portion configured to contact a first reamed glenoid surface when the reaming head has fully reamed a second reamed surface to a planned depth, the second reamed surface being angled to the first reamed surface.

A patient specific shoulder guide is provided that includes a hub and a plurality of peripheral members. Each of the peripheral members has a peripheral member height dimension between the patient specific contact surface and a side of the peripheral member opposite the patient specific contact surface. Bone tracking during orthopedic surgical procedures is described herein. An anti-rotation base of a registration marker of a mixed reality surgery system includes a surface configured to rest on and bear against a surface of a glenoid of a patient. The anti-rotation base also includes a plurality of pin receptacles that each define a respective pin axis. The pin axis of a first pin receptacle of the plurality of pin receptacles is not parallel to the pin axis of a second pin receptacle of the plurality of pin receptacles. Additionally, the anti-rotation base includes a mounting receptacle configured to receive the registration marker.

Provided is a method of resecting a humerus, including positioning a multi-part guide on the humerus, where the multi-part guide includes a support portion and a positioning jig; advancing at least two mounting pins through the support portion along diverging paths; removing the positioning jig; and resecting the humerus with reference to a cutting surface of the support portion.

Patient specific humeral cutting guides

A humeral guide is provided that has a first portion or member configured to be positioned on a portion of a proximal humerus. The first portion or member can be configured to rest in a complementary manner on the portion of the proximal humerus. The humeral guide can be configured with apertures defining trajectories through bone, the pin trajectories being diverging in some case and in some cases being selected to enhanced support. A second portion or member and a third portion or member of the humeral guide are configured to be positioned on first and second lateral portions of the humerus distal to a location intended for resection, e.g., between an anatomical neck and a distal end of the humerus. The second and third portions or members or portions are configured to rest in a complementary manner on the first and second lateral portions of the humerus. The humeral guide can be configured to avoid soft tissue between a bone facing side and the humerus. The humeral guide can have a removeable jig portion.
