The present invention relates to a lubricating composition for an engine, in particular for a motor vehicle engine, comprising at least one base oil and at least one compound able to release formaldehyde under the temperature and pressure conditions of the combustion chamber of the engine. It also relates to the use, in a lubricating composition intended for an engine, of a compound able to release formaldehyde under the temperature and pressure conditions of the combustion chamber of the engine, as an additive for preventing and/or reducing pre-ignition, in particular low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI).

Lubricating composition for preventing or reducing pre-ignition in an engine

A lubricant composition includes: an oil selected from among polyalkylene glycols (PAG); and a nitrogen compound selected from among amine phosphates or amine tungstates. The lubricant composition is particularly suitable for lubricating a vehicle engine, preferably a motor vehicle engine. Also disclosed is an engine lubrication method utilizing such composition.

Polyalkylene glycol-based lubricant composition

In the field of lubricating compositions for motor vehicles, there is disclosed a lubricating composition of a grade according to the SAEJ300 classification defined by the formula (X) W (Y) wherein X represents 0 or 5 and Y represents an integer ranging from 4 to 20. This lubricating composition includes at least one polyalphaolefinic oil (PAO), from 10 to 80% by weight of the composition of at least one oil of group V and at least one comb polymer. Also isclosed is the use of this lubricating composition for improving the Fuel Eco (FE) of a lubricant or for reducing the fuel consumption of an engine, in particular a motor vehicle engine, notably a motor of a hybrid vehicle.

Ultra-fluid lubricating composition

Lubricant compositions include: (a) one or more polyalkylene glycol base oils obtained by polymerization or copolymerization of alkylene oxides comprising from 3 to 8 carbon atoms, include at least one butylene oxide and (b) at least one detergent chosen from salicylates or phenates. The present disclosure also relates to: 1) use of a lubricant composition as engine oil, preferably as oil for the engines of petrol or diesel motor vehicles; 2) use of a group of additives for an engine lubricant comprising polyalkylene glycol bases obtained by polymerization or copolymerization of alkylene oxides comprising from 3 to 8 carbon atoms; and 3) use of at least one additive chosen from salicylates, phenates, dithiocarbamates, amine-based or phenol-based antioxidants, preferably from salicylates or phenates, for reducing the Noack volatility of the base oils of polyalkylene glycol type, obtained from alkylene oxides comprising from 3 to 8 carbon atoms.
