A superconducting wired electrical circuit has two portions () each having a superconducting cable core (), an electrical insulation layer (), a screen () and a cryogenic jacket () surrounding the screen () to allow the circulation of a cryogenic fluid. At least a first arrangement (A) has a cryostatic junction unit () electrically connecting, in series, the two portions (), an inlet/outlet duct () for cryogenic fluid. A distinct tap-off module () has at least one inlet/outlet tapping () for the flow of a cryogenic fluid in the second portion (). A device () for blocking the passage of cryogenic fluid is interposed between the duct () and the tapping () and positioned around and in contact with the screen () of the second portion ().

Multiple cooling systems arrangement for superconducting cable system

A cryostat is provided for housing for a superconducting wired circuit. The cryostat has a dividing partition () delimiting two internal spaces; a first and a second opening situated one on each side of the dividing partition and each configured to fix one end of a cryogenic jacket surrounding at least one superconducting wire () and to allow the superconducting wire to pass into the internal spaces. A third outlet opening is provided for a cooling fluid circulating in the cryogenic jacket fixed to the first opening. A fourth inlet opening is for a cooling fluid circulating in the cryogenic jacket fixed to the second opening. The dividing partition () incorporates a cavity forming a partition feedthrough (T) allowing the superconducting wire to pass through and sealed against the cooling fluids by the injection, once the wire has been fed through, of an electrically insulating material () in polymerizable liquid form, via an access opening () providing access to said cavity.

Cryostat housing for superconducting wired circuit, and associated superconducting wired circuits

A superconducting cable system includes a superconducting cable (); a first cryogenic jacket () containing the cable (); and a superconducting device () connected to the cable (). The superconducting cable system also has a second cryogenic jacket () containing the superconducting device (); at least one first terminal () connected to the superconducting device (); and a cooling unit () connected to the at least one first terminal ().

Superconducting cable system

An electrically connecting device () includes a linking part defining an internal channel () that opens onto the exterior of the linking part. The internal channel () is able to receive two end segments of two superconducting wires () that lie parallel in the internal channel () over a segment of common length; and an aperture () in the external jacket of the linking part. The aperture () is in communication with the internal channel () in order to allow a brazing material in liquid form to be inserted into the internal channel () around the two end segments of the two superconducting wires ().

Electrically connecting device for superconducting wires

A high-voltage cable sealing end () has a primary volume () and a secondary volume () fluidically connected thereto, which are filled with an insulating fluid. The primary volume () and the secondary volume () are sealed with respect to the atmosphere surrounding the high-voltage cable sealing end (). The secondary volume () can be disconnected from the primary volume () via a separable connection () which can be cut off in a fluid-tight manner. A drying agent, which draws moisture out of the insulating fluid, is introduced into the secondary volume ().

Sealing end for high-voltage cables

The invention specifies a termination () for a superconducting cable () which is arranged in a tubular cryostat, which serves for carrying a coolant, and has at least one electrical conductor. The termination () has an inner sheath (), in which one end of the cable () is arranged in a coolant, and an outer sheath (), wherein the sheaths () are composed of electrically insulating material and insulating material is arranged in an existing intermediate space () between the inner and the outer sheath. The inner sheath () is connected to the cryostat, and the termination () is arranged vertically in the assembly position such that a lower part (C) of the inner and the outer sheath () is connected to earth and an upper part (A) of the inner and the outer sheath () is connected to high-voltage potential in the operating state. At the respective upper end, the inner sheath () is closed off by a first bursting disc () and the outer sheath () is closed off by a second bursting disc ().

Termination for a superconductive cable

A termination unit () for a superconducting cable (), has an internal electrically insulating envelope () containing the phase conductors (A,B,C) of the cable () in a cryogenic fluid. The internal envelope () has, for each phase conductor (A,B,C), one first electrical connector (A,B,C) connected to the corresponding phase conductor (A,B,C) and protruding from the internal envelope (). The termination unit () further has an electrically conductive, grounded casing () surrounding the internal envelope () and the first electrical connectors (A,B,C), the grounded casing () comprising one bushing (A,B,C) for each one of the first electrical connectors (A,B,C), each bushing (A,B,C) being connected to one of the first electrical connectors (A,B,C) by a second electrical connector (A,B,C) and being adapted to transmit voltage and current from its associated phase conductor (A,B,C).

Termination unit for a superconducting cable

A joint is provided between two abutting cables, where the cables each have, around a central support, at least one phase layer composed of at least one layer of superconducting material and a neutral layer that are concentric and contained in a shell, filled with cryogenic fluid. The neutral layer of each cable is also stripped, at least one bridging support member is placed between the stripped neutral layers, and a layer of conducting or superconducting material, for, the electrical connection of these neutral layers, is placed on the support member.

A contact element () provided with an electrical connection element (A), and intended for a superconducting cable unit arranged in a refrigerant, has an electrically conductive plate intended to be borne mechanically by the unit and to be electrically connected to the cable. The plate has through slots (E,E',E&#x2033;) intended to form thermal conduction baffles.

A termination unit for a multi-phase superconductor cable has, for each phase, a cylindrical modular element () having a thermally insulating external envelope (A,A,A) containing a superconductor cable portion () contained in an internal envelope (B,B,B) containing a cooling fluid. A branch element () of each phase, provided with an electrical connection element (A,A,A), is arranged at the end of each said modular element, where each branch element () is directly connected to the corresponding cable portion () and only the electrical connection element (A,A,A) projecting from the modular elements ().

Termination unit for multi-phase superconductor cable

A method of managing thermal contraction of a superconductor cable () having a cable body surrounded by an external screen (A) made form wound metal elements and installed between its ends in an enclosure () or cryostat filled with a cryogenic liquid, where the method includes mechanically applying a locking force loading only said screen (A) at a so-called locking point (A,B) in the vicinity of the ends of the cable.

Method of managing thermal contraction of a superconductor cable and arrangement for implementing this method

An electrical bushing structure includes a central conductor () designed to have one () of its two ends connected to a superconductor element situated in an enclosure () at cryogenic temperature, and its other end () connected to an article at ambient temperature. An electrically insulating sheath () surrounds the conductor over substantially the entire length of the conductor. A metal tube () surrounds the conductor over substantially its entire length and is interposed between the insulating sheath () and the conductor (), the tube being mechanically fastened to the conductor close to one of the ends () of the conductor, referred to as its first end, and not being mechanically fastened to the conductor close to the other one of the ends of the conductor, referred to as its second end. A space between the conductor and the tube containing a gas. The tube is in electrical contact with said second end of the conductor.

Electrical feedthrough structure for superconductor element

An arrangement for an electrically conducting connection of a superconductive electric cable with a cable having normal conductivity at room temperature is provided, which includes a passage with an electric conductor surrounded by a thermal insulation. The conductor of the superconductive cable is connected to an end of the conductor of the passage, at whose other end a cable having normal conductivity can be connected. On the end of the superconductive cable intended to connect to the conductor of the passage an electrode is mounted serving the electric field control. At least in the area of the electrode a cryostat is present which surrounds it, which is constructed as a circumferentially closed sheath of electrically insulating material with a vacuum free, thermal insulation. The end of the sheath facing the passage is placed during the state of operation of the arrangement at high voltage potential, while the other end is connected to ground potential.

Arrangement with a superconductive cable

A connection arrangement for connecting together two superconductor cables, each having a central conductor comprising at least one superconductive part, a dielectric layer surrounding said central conductor, a shield surrounding said dielectric layer and a cryogenic enclosure surrounding said shield, the connection arrangement has an electrical splicing device for splicing together the central conductors and stripped dielectric layers of the corresponding shields. This connection arrangement has a covering made of semi-conductive material that is placed between the two shield ends and an electrical connection device for connecting together the two shield ends, the connection device surrounding the covering, being contained in the cryogenic enclosure, and comprising two junction elements each electrically and mechanically joined to a respective one of the shield ends, and an electrical splicing arrangement for splicing together the two junction elements.

Connection arrangement for two superconductor cables

A termination for a superconductive cable () is provided, consisting of a pressure-tight metal inner container () in which there is a liquid refrigerant and into which the cable protrudes, and a metal outer container () which is separated from the inner container by an intermediate space () in which vacuum insulation is applied. A first rupture diaphragm () is applied in the wall of the inner container () and a second rupture diaphragm () is applied in the wall of the outer container () level with the first rupture diaphragm (). An evacuated relief space (), which contains superinsulation and is sealed from the intermediate space () with the vacuum insulation by a pressure-tight wall (), is provided between the two rupture diaphragms ().
