A skid-steer delivery autonomous ground vehicle has a drive train and suspension that aids in maneuverability. The AGV has six wheels, each of which is powered by its own motor. The AGV has features that diminish the dragging effect on the wheels, either by choice of wheel features or by taking weight off the front wheels during turning.

The lower thermal management system is indirect, as is moves air through a closed duct that is in contact with high-heat dissipating components via heat sinks. A delivery AGV has a hybrid braking system. An emergency electrical brake shorts between motor contacts to stop the AGV quickly, but it doesn't work well to keep the AGV stopped, such as when on a hill. A mechanical parking brake is electrically actuated to lock the wheels. Both systems can be used at once for stopping the AGV.

A delivery autonomous ground vehicle includes several drainage features to keep water away from the package to be delivered and sensitive components. The cargo bay includes dimples to raise the package from the floor of the bay and a drain. Enclosed drain pans beneath elements of the lid also include drains. Water entering from the cooling air inlet holes of discharge holes can drain back through the holes or through the main drain. Overlapping panels inhibit water ingress, but if provided without seals, the water ingress between overlapping panels flows to the main drain.

A fixture includes a shelf upon which items may be placed. In one implementation, the shelf is supported by four load cells that provide load cell data that may be used to calculate weight data for the load on the shelf. The load cells are mounted underneath a frame, with an upper portion of a load mount extending upward through the frame and engaged to the shelf. The shelf and the frame include stiffeners to increase rigidity, improving the quality of the load cell data. Electronics and a wiring harness are located underneath the frame. In this configuration, assembly of the fixture may be accomplished completely from the underside, simplifying assembly.
