A locking system that locks and unlocks a door of an elevator car travelling along a track having stopping points and associated stopping point zones includes a lock mechanism having a locking position wherein the door is immobilized in a closed position and an unlocking position wherein the door can be opened, an actuator for bringing the lock mechanism into the locking and unlocking positions, and a control device activating the actuator to bring the lock mechanism into the unlocking position when the car is located in the region of a stopping point zone. A position detecting unit continuously detects the position of the car relative to the track and communicates the position to the control device that continuously detects whether the car is located in the region of a stopping point zone by comparing the communicated car position to stored position limit values of the stopping point zones.

Locking system for elevator car door

An elevator system includes a first elevator car, a second elevator car, a drive-machine, and a suspension apparatus that passes over a traction sheave of the drive-machine to cause the cars to travel one above the other in a travel space. The suspension apparatus is divided into a first set and a second set. A displacement mechanism fixed in the travel space interacts with the second set between the traction sheave and the second car to vary the distance between the cars. This distance can be adjusted independent of the traction sheave. The displacement mechanism can have a pulley arrangement with a displaceable pulley displaced by a displacement drive to vary a length of a section of the second set between the displacement mechanism and the second car.

Elevator system

A safety brake for an elevator includes a brake element or a brake wedge, a guide element, and a setting device. The brake element or the brake wedge is borne movably on the guide element. The safety brake has an activating element, which, upon activation of the safety brake, can be brought into mechanical engagement with the brake element or the brake wedge to act on a guiderail to stop an associated elevator car.

In an elevator installation an elevator cage is movable along at least two guide rails and the elevator cage is equipped with a braking system. An elevator braking device includes a brake element, a force store, which is constructed to press the brake element against the brake surface, and an actuator, which can act on the brake element. A method of operating the braking device includes the actuator pressing, in a first operational setting, the brake element against the force of the force store away from the brake surface or to hold it at a spacing therefrom, and the actuator freeing, in a second operational setting, the brake element and allowing the force store to press the brake element against the brake surface.

Elevator braking method

A lightweight glass plate includes a first glass plate, a second glass plate and an intermediate layer that connects the first and the second plates together. The lightweight glass plate further includes at least one connection element that allows the lightweight glass plate to be connected to an abutting component. The connection element is embedded into the intermediate layer in an edge area of the lightweight glass plate and the intermediate layer extends to surfaces located between the connection element and the glass plates. The lightweight glass plate is preferably used in the preparation of elevator doors and/or car walls. The lightweight glass plates are lightweight and can transfer large forces.

An elevator cage is movable along at least two guide rails and the elevator cage is equipped with a braking system. The elevator braking device has a brake housing and a force store. The brake housing is mounted to be displaceable between a first position and a second position. The force store acts on the brake housing and pushes the brake housing in the direction of a second position. In addition, the elevator braking device includes an actuator which can act on the brake housing and keep the brake housing in a first position. The actuator in its first setting can hold the brake housing in the first position against the force of the force store. In a second setting the actuator enables pushing of the brake housing into the second position. A brake element is thereby brought into contact with the brake rail.

An elevator car has a car body with movably mounted car door leaves having upper guide rollers and a roof frame which stabilizes the car body. In addition, there is a door drive for moving the car door leaves and a horizontal door guide rail for mounting and guiding the car door leaves. A door drive carrier is arranged on a horizontal surface on an upper face of the roof frame horizontally along an upper front horizontal edge of the car body. The door drive carrier has a vertical surface section which runs parallel to a vertical front side of the roof frame and a horizontal surface section which runs parallel to the horizontal surface of the roof frame. The guide rail is fastened directly to the vertical front side of the roof frame.

Elevator car

In an elevator installation an elevator cage is arranged to be movable along guide rails and the elevator cage is equipped with a brake system possibly with two safety brakes. The safety device is activated by way of control devices which can trigger the safety device from critical or non-critical events. The control devices further include a function for automatic resetting of the safety brake when an event, which is evaluated as non-critical, is indicated as a reason for triggering the safety brake. Resetting of the safety brake takes place through execution of pre-defined resetting steps of the elevator cage.

An elevator car for an elevator system includes a car door, a car door mechanism, at least one car door panel, a door drive motor, and a drive control device for the door drive motor. The car door mechanism thereby supports the car door panel. The drive control device includes an operator module having an operator panel, wherein the operator module is disposed on the elevator car so that the operator panel can be operated from the roof of the elevator car and through an opened shaft door from a building floor.

In an elevator installation an elevator cage is movable along at least two guide rails and the elevator cage is equipped with a braking system. An elevator braking device includes a brake element, a force store, which is constructed to press the brake element against the brake surface, and an actuator, which can act on the brake element and which is constructed in order to press, in a first operational setting, the brake element against the force of the force store away from the brake surface or to hold it at a spacing therefrom and in order to free, in a second operational setting, pressing of the brake element against the brake surface.

Elevator braking device

Brake equipment for holding and braking an elevator car in an elevator installation, which is arranged to be movable along a brake track in two directions of travel, includes a mount with a brake lining which automatically adjusts under friction couple with the brake track on movement of the elevator car relative to the rail and in that case tightens a first tightening means, which can be released by an actuator. The first tightening means tightens the mount together with the brake lining against the brake track by a biasing force. The brake equipment produces, with unmoved brake equipment and an unreleased state of the actuator, a holding force acting in both directions of travel. The holding force is determined substantially by the biasing force acting on the mount.

The elevator car is arranged movably along guideways and in the special operating mode is decelerated to a standstill and kept at a standstill by a braking device, by a braking force brought about by the braking device together with a brakeway. A required deceleration to bring the elevator car to a standstill within a next-possible exit zone in the special operating mode is calculated, furthermore a stopping of the elevator car is detected if a sudden change in the braking force or the acceleration is established and the braking force of the braking device is set to a holding force when the stopping is established. The special operating mode results in the elevator car coming to a stop directly in the region of an exit zone in a special operating mode and passengers in the car being able to leave the elevator car independently.

An elevator installation has braking equipment for braking and holding an elevator car which moves in vertical direction within guide tracks or rails. The braking equipment consists of at least two brake units each comprising a normal force regulation device that sets a normal force (F) in correspondence with a normal force value determined by a brake control unit and/or a locking device that locks the brake unit in a set braking position and which preferably maintains the set braking position in the case of an interrupted energy supply. The braking equipment provides a gentle braking or holding of the elevator car, which corresponds with the operational state of the elevator installation, with a low energy requirement.

An elevator installation has an elevator car that moves in a vertical direction along guide tracks and is braked or held at standstill by a braking equipment. The braking equipment includes at least two brake units, at least one of the brake units, but preferably each of the brake units, is provided with a wear-compensating device which, when the brake unit is opened or released, sets a clearance distance between a brake lining and an associated brake surface, which clearance arises on opening of the brake unit, in correspondence with a substantially constant value. Thereby, use may be made of customary and thus economic brake materials which may wear during braking.

An uninterruptible power supply wherein an isolation device is automatically tested during normal operation to ensure that it is capable of effectively isolating the input from an auxiliary power supply during emergency operation. The uninterruptible power supply includes an input for coupling to a main power supply, an output for connection to an electrical load, an auxiliary power supply and a selective isolation device configured to isolate the auxiliary power supply from the input during emergency operation. First components establish a reverse polarity across the isolation device for a test period during normal operation, and second components monitor a voltage proportional to the input voltage to the isolation device and output an error signal if the monitored voltage remains or rises above a first reference value during the test period.
