Systems and methods for processing plastic derived pyrolysis oil are disclosed. A plastic derived pyrolysis oil and/or plastic are processed in a catalytic cracking unit and/or a thermal cracking unit under reaction conditions sufficient to produce a gaseous stream comprising propylene and a liquid stream. The liquid stream is further processed to produce additional propylene.

Method of processing waste plastic and pyrolysis oil from waste plastic

A process for the production of ethylene-based polymers from waste plastics feedstocks includes the steps in this order of: providing a hydrocarbon stream A obtained by treatment of a waste plastics feedstock; providing a hydrocarbon stream B; supplying a feed C including a fraction of the hydrocarbon stream A and a fraction of the hydrocarbon stream B to a thermal cracker furnace having cracking coil(s); performing a thermal cracking operation in the presence of steam to obtain a cracked hydrocarbon stream D; supplying the cracked hydrocarbon stream D to a separation unit to obtain a product stream E containing ethylene; supplying the product stream E to a polymerisation reactor; and performing a polymerisation reaction to obtain an ethylene-based polymer; wherein in step (d): the coil outlet temperature is ≥800 and ≤870° C.; and the weight ratio of steam to feed C is >0.3 and <0.8.

Process for the preparation of polyethylenes from waste plastic feedstocks

The present invention relates to a process for the production of ethylene-based polymers from waste plastics feedstocks comprising the steps in this order of: (a) providing a hydrocarbon stream A obtained by hydrotreatment of a pyrolysis oil produced from a waste plastics feedstock; (b) optionally providing a hydrocarbon stream B; (c) supplying a feed C comprising a fraction of the hydrocarbon stream A and optionally a fraction of the hydrocarbon stream B to a thermal cracker furnace comprising cracking coil(s); (d) performing a thermal cracking operation in the presence of steam to obtain a cracked hydrocarbon stream D; (e) supplying the cracked hydrocarbon stream D to a separation unit; (f) performing a separation operation in the separation unit to obtain a product stream E comprising ethylene; (g) supplying the product stream E to a polymerisation reactor; and (h) performing a polymerisation reaction in the polymerisation reactor to obtain an ethylene-based polymer; wherein in step (d): ⋅ · the coil outlet temperature is 2: 800 and:::; 870° C., preferably 2: 820 and:::; 870° C.; and ⋅ · the weight ratio of steam to feed C is >0.3 and <0.8.

Process for the preparation of polypropylenes from waste plastic feedstocks

Methods and systems for producing light olefins are disclosed. A feedstock comprising crude oil is distilled to produce a plurality of streams including a naphtha stream and a vacuum residue stream. The naphtha is fed to a steam cracking unit to produce light olefins, Chydrocarbons, pyrolysis gasoline and pyrolysis oil. The vacuum residue stream is hydrocracked to produce additional naphtha and heavy unconverted oil. The heavy unconverted oil and the pyrolysis oil from steam cracking unit can be deasphalted to produce deasphalted oil and pitch product. The deasphalted oil can be further hydrocracked to produce naphtha. The pitch product can be gasified to produce synthesis gas, which is further used to produce methanol. The methanol can be used to react with isobutylene of the Chydrocarbon stream from steam cracker to produce methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE).

Optimizing the simultaneous production of high-value chemicals and fuels from heavy hydrocarbons

A process for producing olefins and aromatics comprising converting plastics to a hydrocarbon product comprising a gas phase and a liquid phase in a pyrolysis unit; separating the hydrocarbon product into a hydrocarbon gas stream comprising the gas phase and a hydrocarbon liquid stream comprising the liquid phase; feeding the hydrocarbon gas stream to a gas steam cracker to produce a gas steam cracker product comprising olefins, wherein an olefins amount in the gas steam cracker product is greater than in the hydrocarbon gas stream; separating the hydrocarbon liquid stream into a first fraction (b.p.&#x3c;300&#xb0; C.) and a second fraction (b.p&#x3e;300&#xb0; C.); feeding the first fraction to a liquid steam cracker to produce a liquid steam cracker product comprising olefins and aromatics, wherein an olefins amount in the liquid steam cracker product is greater than in the first fraction; and recycling the second fraction to the pyrolysis unit.

Maximizing high-value chemicals from mixed plastic using different steam-cracker configurations

Integrated process configuration involving the steps of pyrolysis, hydrocracking, hydrodealkylation and steam cracking

Disclosed are methods of reduction of chlorine in pyrolysis products derived from a mixed plastics stream. Methods may comprise: (a) causing pyrolysis of a plastic feedstock to produce a first stream of C1-C4 gaseous hydrocarbons and light gas olefins and a second stream comprising the remaining pyrolysis components. The second stream and hydrogen gas may be fed into a hydrocracker to produce a third stream of gaseous C1-C4 hydrocarbon gases and a fourth stream comprising the remaining hydrocracker components. The fourth stream may be fed to either (i) a steam cracker to produce a fifth stream comprising C1-C4 gaseous hydrocarbons and light gas olefins, a sixth stream comprising C6-C8 hydrocarbons and a seventh stream comprising hydrocarbons heavier than C8; or (ii) a fluidized catalytic cracker to produce an eighth stream comprising C1-C4 gases and light gas olefins and a ninth stream comprising hydrocarbons that are C5 or greater.
