A heavy metal penetrator with a high tungsten content incorporating a central part or core formed of an alloy comprising from 85% to 97% in mass of tungsten associated with additional metals and which is enclosed by a peripheral sheath made of a more ductile tungsten alloy than that of the core. The sheath of the penetrator is made of an alloy comprising 30% to 72% in mass of tungsten, the core comprising nodules of tungsten bound in a matrix of a gamma phase &#x3b3;associating tungsten with additional metals, the two gamma phases being continuously joined to one another with no transition zone.

An arrow-type sub-caliber projectile has a piercing bar which is cylindrical about a longitudinal axis, extended by a conical portion, and is surrounded by a sabot made of a lightweight material and allows the firing of the projectile in a weapon. This conical portion has a tip of a heating-resistant material with a maximum diameter less than half the diameter of the bar, the tip being connected to the bar by a support structure having no ballistic effects, the bar having a flat front face which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bar, the flat front face area being substantially equal to the cross-sectional area of the bar, thus with no element with ballistic effects interposed between the flat front face of the bar and the tip.

An impact fuse includes a body containing a piezoelectric generator positioned on a bracket integral with the body. The piezoelectric generator serving as an anvil. The fuse includes a piston intended to mechanically contact the generator upon impact. The piston receives the impact forces transmitted by a cap. The fuse being characterized in that the piston is slidably fitted within the body and in that it includes plastically deformable means that are interposed between the cap and the body. The means are deformed by cap movement upon impact with a target via piston movement. The plastically deformable means is configured to be deformed in a manner that causes the piston to more gradually exert force on the piezoelectric generator.

A device including a ring for linking a case and a projectile carrying a sealing band having a rear skirt providing low pressure sealing and a front rib lodged in a first groove in the projectile. The ring has a flared rear part connected with the case and a front part connected with the projectile by attachment means. The front part of the ring is lodged between the rear skirt of the band and the projectile and has a lip co-operating with the first groove or with a second groove in the projectile. A process for mounting the sealing band and ring to link the case and projectile includes sliding the sealing band and ring along the projectile in a single operation.

A device for joining a first container to a second container to be inserted into the chamber of a weapon includes a first neck disposed adjacent a first face of the first container, a second neck disposed adjacent a second face of the second container and a deformable ring. The first container and the second container have container diameters that are less than a chamber diameter D1. The first face of the first container is alignable with a second face of the second container along a longitudinal axis. The second neck includes a circular cusp. The deformable ring is disposed around the first neck and includes an annular lip. The deformable ring is shaped to slide substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis toward the second container to engage the cusp. The deformable ring has a ring diameter D3 that is greater than the chamber diameter D1. The deformable ring is configured to decrease in diameter under deformation from the ring diameter D3 to the chamber diameter D1 when the first container is inserted into the chamber. As a result, the deformable ring disengages from the cusp and allows the first container to separate from the second container without requiring use of tools or manipulation by the operator.
