A power system that is attachable to a helmet is disclosed. The power system provides power and data connections for helmet-mounted accessory devices and provides power to the accessory devices. The power system includes a base unit that is attachable to the helmet. The base unit includes a processor, an internal power source, and one or more cable interfaces. One or more accessory interfaces can each be attached to the helmet, connected to a cable interface, and connected to an accessory device. The base unit further include an interface for attaching a power module to the base unit. The power module includes one or more removable power sources. The base unit selectively provides, to an accessory device connected to an accessory interface, power from either the internal power source or from a removable power source.

Helmet-mounted power system

A helmet assembly having a helmet, a mandible guard, and an accessory attachment system that is used to selectively attach and secure the mandible guard to the helmet is disclosed. In some embodiments, the mandible guard is arranged to be detached from a first side of the helmet while remaining secured to a second side of the helmet. In such embodiments, the mandible guard may be moved outwardly and away from a wearer as the mandible guard pivots around the accessory attachment system attached to the second side of the helmet.

Attachment systems for releasably securing an accessory to an article, such as a helmet, are disclosed. In one embodiment, an attachment system () includes an attachment plate () that includes engaging features () which engage corresponding engagement features on an attachment base (). At least one of the engaging features () on the attachment plate is associated with a flexible member (), and is movable between a locked configuration and an unlocked configuration via deformation of the flexible member. A pair of grips () are provided on opposing ends of the flexible member, and the grips are pressed toward one another to move the movable engaging feature between the locked and unlocked configurations.

A helmet accessory attachment member includes a finger-actuatable lock configured to secure an accessory attachment member mount to a helmet mount as part of securing an accessory such as a mandible guard to a helmet. The lock includes a pivot arm with a rotation axis that is parallel to the helmet surface, and also includes one or more blocking surfaces on the pivot arm to engage with grooves on the helmet mount. The lock may be positioned on a slidable insert of the accessory attachment member.

An eyewear assembly has a frame with removable lenses. The eyewear assembly may include upper and lower frame portions that are separable from one another at a bridge region of the frame using a linkage. A finger actuator actuates the linkage to cause the upper frame to move away from the lower frame, exposing at least one edge of the lenses for removal. The separated upper frame portion and lower frame portion may be held in a stable open position. After lens removal or replacement, the linkage may be actuated to reconnect the upper frame portion and lower frame portion, thereby enclosing the lenses.
