A method for detecting obstacles in the vicinity of an aircraft. The method comprises the following steps: examining a surrounding space by means of an obstacle sensor, the obstacle sensor generating positioning data relating to a plurality of obstacle points; determining, from among the obstacle points, each relevant point situated within a predetermined detection volume, the detection volume being different from the surrounding space; and displaying the relevant points on a display.

A safety system seeking to avoid an undesirable event while piloting a helicopter. According to the invention, the system is remarkable in that it comprises a computer making it possible at any instantto generate a three-dimensional envelope of fallback paths for the helicopter, the envelope being obtained by calculating, at the instant, a set of positions that can be reached by the helicopter during a predetermined flight duration, the computer having parameters previously set with data relating to the flight capabilities of the helicopter and including at least one of the following capabilities: maximum speeds and accelerations in all three spatial directions, minimum turning radii for yaw, nose-down, and/or nose-up movements, maximum weight of the transported load, and maximum stresses.

Safety system, a helicopter fitted with such a system, and a safety method seeking to avoid an undesirable event

A method of assisting in the navigation of a rotorcraft by displaying in flight a dynamic representation of the outside world (Me) in the event of a loss of visibility (brown-out/white-out). Front maps with incorporated localization are generated on the basis of front images captured by a set of front cameras. Terrain elevation data is generated from images captured by complementary sets of lateral and rear cameras. In the event of a loss of visibility, a reconstituted world (Mr) is prepared from the front maps with incorporated localization. On request of the pilot, an extrapolated world (Mex) is prepared by adding terrain elevation data to the front maps with incorporated localization, in compliance with the common time and the relative positions of the various sets of cameras between one another.

The simulation provides at least a step of translating communications interfaces into the form of models encoded in high level language on the basis of formal files in mark-up language; and dynamically managing descriptions that provide for grouping together, updating, and sharing a database that, for each piece of equipment, incorporates signals that transit via its input and/or output interfaces.
