A drive unit and a drive assembly and a motor vehicle. The drive unit includes a first electric machine and a second electric machine and an output shaft, wherein a rotor of the second electric machine is connected to the output shaft for conjoint rotation. The drive unit further includes a disconnect clutch by which a rotor of the first electric machine can be connected to the output shaft. The drive unit further includes power electronics for controlling at least one of the two electric machines and a flow system for implementing a flow of a coolant, and the drive unit, being a component in the flow system, further includes a heat exchanger by which the coolant can be cooled. The drive unit and the drive assembly constitute equipment that allows control of individual assemblies in an efficient manner and with a low space requirement.

A thermal management system for an electric drive system, preferably for a vehicle, includes an electric drive including an electric motor and power electronics. The electric motor and the power electronics are integrated in a cooling circuit and are cooled by a coolant circulating in the cooling circuit. The coolant is circulated by a coolant pump. In the case of a variable thermal management system, the electric motor and the power electronics are in spatial contact with respective cooling units. The cooling units of the electric motor and of the power electronics are arranged parallel to each other and an electrically controlled coolant distributor is positioned between the coolant pump and the cooling units which coolant distributor has two outlets. One outlet leads to the cooling unit of the electric motor and one outlet leads to the cooling unit of the power electronics and the outlets of the cooling units are merged into a channel and led back to the coolant pump.

A busbar for power electronics is disclosed for connecting a first electrical element to a second electrical element. The busbar includes at least one positive lamination as a first current-carrying element and at least one negative lamination as a second current-carrying element. The at least one positive lamination is arranged on the at least one negative lamination in such a way to form a laminated stack.
