A chewing gum composition with high pH-release includes an insoluble gum base matrix and a soluble bulk portion, wherein the gum base matrix and the bulk portion is mixed and extruded to form a final chewing gum core, and wherein the gum base matrix is buffered before mixing with the bulk portion. Furthermore, a method of producing a chewing gum core, wherein a gum base matrix and a bulk portion is mixed and extruded to form a final chewing gum core, and wherein the gum base matrix is buffered before mixing with the bulk portion, and the gum base matrix includes a first amount of buffer from 2 to 20 percent by weight of the gum base matrix before mixing with the bulk portion.

A compressed chewing gum tablet includes at least a first and a second chewing gum module, the first chewing gum module including a first chewing gum composition including at least a first active ingredient and chewing gum granules containing gum base, the second chewing gum module including a second chewing gum composition including at least a second active ingredient and chewing gum granules containing gum base, wherein the first active ingredient is a pharmaceutically active ingredient, and the second active ingredient is selected from the group consisting of pharmaceutically active ingredients and enhancers, wherein the gum base content of the first and second chewing gum modules is different.

A method of dosing pharmaceutically active ingredients in a compressed chewing gum tablet includes the steps of: providing one or more pharmaceutically active ingredients, mixing a chewing gum composition including the one or more pharmaceutically active ingredients and chewing gum granules, the chewing gum granules including gum base, and dosing the chewing gum composition to obtain a desired weight of the chewing gum composition and thereby obtaining a desired dose of the pharmaceutically active ingredient in the chewing gum tablet.

A compressed chewing gum tablet includes one or more pharmaceutically active ingredients and one or more enhancers, wherein the chewing gum tablet includes at least one chewing gum module including a chewing gum composition, and wherein the chewing gum composition includes chewing gum granules containing gum base, and wherein the enhancers are at least partly contained within at least a part of the chewing gum granules.
