In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a monitor module configured to monitor a set of performance indicators associated with a first network topology of a wireless network provider system. In the first network topology, a set of virtual baseband units services a set of remote radio heads. The apparatus includes a detector module configured to detect an operational condition of the wireless network provider system based on at least one value associated with the set of performance indicators at a first time. The apparatus further includes an optimization module configured to define, based on the operational condition, a second network topology for the set of virtual baseband units. The optimization module is further configured to send a signal to a virtual baseband unit pool manager to configure the wireless network provider system in the second network topology at a second time after the first time.

Methods and apparatus for self optimization and/or improvement of a cloud-based wireless network

A device may select a sector of a network on which to perform network traffic offloading based on a sector loading metric relating to an imbalance of loading of a set of cells of the sector. The device may identify a loaded cell of the sector based on one or more call admission metrics or one or more cell congestion metrics. The device may identify a less loaded neighbor (LLN) cell for the loaded cell. The device may cause one or more cell configuration alterations relating to causing network traffic to be offloaded from the loaded cell to the LLN cell.

Real-time load balancing for a network

A non-transitory processor-readable medium stores code to cause a processor to receive a performance indicator associated with a first mode. The code causes the processor to calculate, using the performance indicator associated with the first mode, a first metric value associated with a first metric and an objective of the first mode. The code causes the processor to calculate, using the first metric value, a second metric value associated with a second metric and an objective of a second mode. The second metric value partially compensates for a change in a performance indicator associated with the second mode when the first metric value is implemented. The code causes the processor to send a signal associated with the first metric value and a signal associated with the second metric value to an antenna module such that the antenna module implements the first metric value and the second metric value.
