A method for delivering to a user a dedicated service restricted to a predefined service area includes, performing an access request to a dedicated service. The dedicated service is delivered from a server through a data network between a user device and the server. The method also includes determining a service profile associated with the user, and assigning to the user device a dedicated communication channel for the dedicated service. The method further includes starting a communication session with the server through the data network according to the assigned dedicated communication channel, and performing an authentication request to the server. If the service authenticates the user successfully, the position of the user is obtained, and the dedicated service is delivered to the user device.

Method and system for delivering dedicated services restricted to a predefined service area

A method for controlling admission of calls to a mobile communication network having cells associated with at least one determined threshold level of operation suitable for managing cell shrinking phenomena. The method includes the operation of detecting call requests from a cell edge affected by such cell shrinking phenomena, variably exceeding the determined threshold level in uplink. A method for admitting calls to the mobile communication network in both uplink and downlink on the basis of the evaluation of the actual system load is also proposed. Preferred application is in UMTS mobile networks.

A video-communication service in which a separation in different components of the video-communication is caused at the telephone equipment of the users, e.g., a separation in a video and in a voice component. A method for managing radio resources in a mobile communications network having a plurality of cells, wherein the radio resources are managed by a plurality of radio resources management procedures arranged for having available at least one maximum downlink total load value representative of the maximum total load level of each cell of the network; and for measuring at least one uplink load value and at least one current downlink total load value of each cell of the network. The method includes the steps of defining at least two status parameters including a first status parameter or load status parameter adapted to reach a first set of status ranges, depending on the measured uplink load value and the current downlink total load value; a second status parameter or packet congestion flag adapted to reach a second set of status ranges, depending upon reaching of a congestion status in a packet management procedure; and adopting different sets of managing strategies associated with the radio resources management procedures of the network as a function of the at least two status parameters being in the respective sets of status ranges. Preferred application is in UMTS mobile networks.

A method for providing telecommunications services in an environment in which a plurality of telecommunications systems operate according to different standards (WLAN, UMTS) and are reachable from a terminal (T) in an integrated manner, wherein at least one of said services can be provided by more systems. Upon the provision request for the above-cited service, the method according to the invention envisages the steps of: &#x2014;verifying the availability for the provision of the requested service, of at least a first (WLAN) and a second (UMTS) system, and &#x2014;selecting, in an automatic and dynamic way, one between at least said first (WLAN) and said second (UMTS) system for the provision of the service being requested.

The present invention relates to a system and method for planning networks for mobile terminals that use a radio interface based on the Code Division Multiple Access or CDMA technique. System and method for planning a telecommunications network for mobile terminals

In a code division multiple access transmission system (CDMA), codes are generated according to a tree structure organized on a plurality of layers. Each re-allocation is considered as an access request to the system by a new user and the re-allocation codes are transmitted to each involved user through the respective re-allocation messages. Re-allocation messages to users having the same spreading factor (SF), and hence the same service bit-rate (kR) are substantially sent simultaneously, in order to reduce to a minimum the time required for the re-allocation operation.

A system and related device emulates the behavior of mobile networks independently from the manner of collecting data about the behavior of the network obtained through a simulation of field measurements. The system emulates the behavior of the network during the exchange of information between terminals and uses an emulation device comprising two circuit blocks. The first is able to process the information according to time sequences corresponding to those of mobile networks. The second one exchanges information between the terminals connected to suitable interfaces. This architecture makes it possible to emulate uplink and downlink functions of the mobile network, displaying on the terminals the effects of the behavior of the network under various operating conditions.
