A lubricant pump comprises a shiftable control ring, a pump rotor rotating in the control ring, a pump outlet, and a pressure control system. The pressure control system comprises a pressure control chamber which pushes the control ring into a high pumping volume direction, an engine pressure input port connected to an engine pressure output port of an engine, a pilot chamber connected to the engine pressure input port which pushes the control ring into a low pumping volume direction, and a pressure control valve which controls a pressure in the pressure control chamber. The pressure control valve comprises a control valve plunger which opens/closes a control port to connect/disconnect the pressure control chamber to the atmospheric. The control valve plunger is fluidically connected to the engine pressure input port so that the control valve plunger is pushed by a lubricant pressure of the engine into an open position.

Variable displacement lubricant pump

A lubricant vane pump for providing a pressurized lubricant for an internal combustion engine includes a pump housing, a pump chamber, a shiftable control ring comprising a pressure-relief-valve, a pump rotor, a pretensioning element which pushes the control ring into a high pumping volume position, a control chamber, and a pump outlet cavity fluidically connected to the control chamber. The pump chamber comprises pump compartments which rotate from a charge to discharge zone. The control ring envelops the pump chamber. The pump rotor comprises radially slidable vanes which rotate in the control ring to provide the pump chamber with the pump compartments. A high lubricant pressure in the control chamber moves the control ring into a low pumping volume direction against the pretensioning element. The pressure-relief-valve of the control ring connects or disconnects the control chamber with one of the pump compartments between the charge zone and the discharge zone.

Lubricant vane pump

A variable-displacement lubricant pump includes a first plunger. A control ring is pushed by the first plunger in a high pumping volume direction. The first plunger is arranged in a first control chamber with a side wall. A first pressure conduit connects a pump outlet port with the first control chamber. A pumping volume limitation unit is arranged so that the first plunger covers and closes an outlet opening arranged in the side wall in a lower pumping volume position of the control ring. A thermostatic element actuates a temperature controlled valve based on lubricant temperature. The thermostatic element pushes a shiftable valve body against a retraction spring to an extended closed end position when the lubricant has an operation temperature. The shiftable valve body is in a retracted closed end position at a cold lubricant temperature and in an intermediate open position at an intermediate lubricant temperature.

Variable-displacement lubricant vane pump

A variable-displacement oil pump wherein between a projection of a mobile ring and a corresponding driving chamber and between a protrusion (again of the mobile ring) and a corresponding guiding seat, respectively, there are placed corresponding devices adapted to decrease the effects of the friction between the projections on the mobile ring and the corresponding seats obtained on a main body of the pump itself.
