A converter system includes a rectifier, a DC link stage and an inverter connected in series. A control unit includes a slow reference frame angle determination unit that generates a slow reference frame angle θrepresenting an angle that is slowly following a grid phase deviation, and a fast Phase Locked Loop generating a fast reference frame angle θrepresenting an angle that is fast following a grid phase deviation. The control unit uses the slow reference frame angle θand the fast reference frame angle θto control the rectifier output current, and the fast reference frame angle θto control the inverter output voltage and to synchronize the inverter output voltage with the grid voltage.

An uninterruptible power supply, UPS, arrangement for subsea applications, including a container arranged and configured for subsea operation, and the following main modules arranged inside the container: at least one battery module of a predetermined battery capacity; at least one UPS module governing the battery module, the UPS module having a predetermined UPS capacity; at least one control module configured for interfacing and managing the battery module and the UPS module. A system and method for an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) includes a first converter assembly, a second converter assembly, a third converter assembly, a first controlled device configured for disconnecting at least two converters of the first converter assembly from and AC source, and a second controlled device configured for connecting at least two of the first converters together, and comprising the step of: opening the first controlled device and closing the second controlled device such that the first converter assembly transfers energy between split DC link halves to maintain voltage regulation of the DC link with respect to the midpoint reference.

Power supply system, and uninterruptible power supply including a power supply system

A power supply for a power line includes a synchronization module having a receiver configured for receiving a clock signal from a satellite-based positioning system and an oscillator configured for generating a periodic signal synchronized to the received clock signal. The power supply includes an inverter module having an inverter configured for supplying an AC voltage to the power line, receiving the periodic signal from the synchronization module, and controlling the inverter using the received periodic signal as a synchronization reference signal for the supplied AC voltage. The power supply further includes a power exchange control module configured for: monitoring an active power flow P from the inverter module to the power line, determining whether the active power flow P satisfies a reverse-flow condition, and when the reverse-flow condition is determined, adapting at least one of a phase and an output voltage of the supplied AC voltage.

The present invention provides a method for detecting a ground fault in a battery of a uninterrupted power supply, the battery includes at least one string with multiple battery cells, the method including the steps of defining multiple individual battery blocks of battery cells along the at least one string, performing an reference impedance measurement for the multiple individual battery blocks at a first point of time, performing a verification impedance measurement for the multiple individual battery blocks at a second point of time, evaluating a change of measured impedance between the reference impedance and the verification impedance for the multiple individual battery blocks of the at least one string, and identifying a ground fault based on a correlated change of measured impedance of the multiple individual battery blocks along the at least one string. The present invention also provides a battery management system for managing a battery of a uninterrupted power supply, which is adapted to perform the above method. The present invention further provides a UPS device and a UPS system, each of which including an above battery management system.

An uninterruptable power supply system is disclosed with a precharge converter for connecting to a DC link of the uninterruptable power supply system to a DC power supply, whereby the DC link comprises a first and a second DC bus line, which are both coupled to a common reference point, whereby the common reference point can be an AC power supply neutral of the uninterruptable power supply system, comprising power connectors for connecting to the DC power supply, a first and second output connector for connecting to the first and the second DC bus line, respectively, a converter circuit for receiving DC power from the power connectors and providing DC power to the first and second output connector, and a control unit for controlling operation of the converter circuit.
