A method includes receiving, by a processing circuit, a plurality of solutions to avoid or decrease an adverse effect caused by an event. The method also includes selecting, by the processing circuit, a selected solution from the plurality of solutions by performing a socio-technical decision process. The socio-technical decision process includes simulating a human decision using a behavior model and a goal model for each of a plurality of agents and simulating a system decision using a sequential error search method for each of a plurality of systems. The socio-technical decision process also includes generating a socio-technical decision using the human decisions and the system decisions. The socio-technical decision corresponds to the selected solution. The method further includes facilitating a performance of one or more actions to implement the socio-technical decision.

Method and system for generating a socio-technical decision in response to an event

Methods, systems, and computer-readable storage media provide for selective Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) notifications to be made to the crew of an aircraft according to the relevance of the NOTAM to a selected phase of flight of the aircraft. According to embodiments described herein, NOTAMs are received and parsed for subject and status codes. The subject and status codes are used with the selected phase of flight to determine a relevance code each NOTAM according to a set of relevance rules. The relevance rules provide a level of relevance of the NOTAM to the phase of flight and trigger a type of notification according to that level of relevance.

Selective NOTAM notification

A particular method includes sending a taxiing routing message from a device to a vehicle. The taxiing routing message indicates a route assignment associated with an airport. The method also includes in response to receiving an acknowledgment of the taxiing routing message from the vehicle, indicating a status at a graphical user interface. The status is associated with the taxiing routing message.

Systems and methods of airport traffic control

A method for rendering data on a display device is described. Data representative of graphics objects rendered on the display device is received. The data is analyzed to identify white space areas. The white space areas are compared to a display area to be rendered on the display device. The white space areas are areas that are substantially free of displayed objects according to a criterion. Based on the comparison, one or more of the white space areas are identified for rendering the display area. The display area is automatically rendered in the identified white space areas on the display device without user intervention. When the white space areas are insufficient to render the display area, the display area may be automatically rendered based on one or more criteria.

Methods, systems, and computer-readable storage media provide for selective weather notifications to be made to the crew of an aircraft according to the level of relevance of the weather information to a selected phase of flight of the aircraft. According to embodiments described herein, weather information is received and parsed into weather components. The weather components and corresponding thresholds are used with the selected phase of flight to determine a relevance code for the weather information according to a set of relevance rules. The relevance rules provide a level of relevance of the weather information to the phase of flight and trigger a type of notification according to that level of relevance.

Selective weather notification

A method and apparatus for managing a number of control surfaces for an aircraft. A current configuration for the number of control surfaces for the aircraft is identified during flight of the aircraft. A selected point in time at which the current configuration for the number of control surfaces is to be changed to a new configuration for the number of control surfaces is identified. A portion of time relative to the selected point in time during which the current configuration for the number of control surfaces is to be changed to the new configuration is identified based on a difference between a current amount of energy for the aircraft and an expected amount of energy for the aircraft.

Managing control surfaces for an aircraft

A method for automatically updating a graphical information system (GIS) type database using aerial imagery. The method may involve processing a new image to identify at least one target region therewithin; analyzing the target region to determine image invariant moments thereof; using feature vector data to generate a template of a target feature from an old image; analyzing the template to generate image invariant moments thereof; and comparing the image invariant moments of the target region with the image invariant moments of the template to identify a feature change between the target region and the template.
