A light projection system and method for generating an image with three primary colors having a module of first blue lasers, second lasers and a wavelength conversion element configured to emit light at a plurality of wavelengths after absorption of a light beam from the second lasers at an excitation wavelength, the output of the module being a combined light beam having a pre-defined chromaticity where the projector is calibrated so as to provide the pre-defined chromaticity of the combined beam over at least a range of laser drive current values to correct for non-linear performance of the wavelength conversion element.

Laser driver

A light beam projecting arrangement including a first cluster of light sources arranged to provide a first cluster of light beams having a first etendue and a second cluster of light sources arranged to provide a second cluster of light beams having a second etendue, and means for changing the direction of the first cluster and/or the second cluster of light beams. The light sources are arranged so that the total etendue of the first cluster of light beams is substantially equal to the etendue of the second cluster of light beams; and where the means for changing the direction are arranged so that the clusters of light beams are brought into a combined cluster light beam having substantially the same etendue as the larger one of the first etendue and the second etendue.

Laser projection illumination system

A light projection system for generating an image with three primary colors, each primary color being respectively defined by a first, second and third wavebands. The system includes a first blue laser source emitting a first beam in a fourth waveband, the first blue laser source having a first laser driver, a second blue laser source emitting a second beam having a central wavelength and a fifth waveband, the second blue laser source having a second laser driver, a substrate having a wavelength conversion element for emitting light at a plurality of wavelengths after absorption of a light beam at an excitation wavelength within a fifth waveband of the second blue laser source and a beam combiner for combining the combined first beam and the converted beam, which combination results in a white beam. Dichroic losses can be reduced by using a green phosphor together with red laser assistance.

A projection system for generating an image with three primary colors, including a first and second blue laser beam, a wavelength conversion element for converting the second blue beam into a converted beam having a waveband including at least the second and third wavebands, a beam combiner for combining the first beam and the converted beam, which combination results in a white beam, a notch filter placed in the optical path of the white beam to form a modified white beam including at least the first, second and third wavebands provided to an imaging module, where a static waveband reduction filter is further provided for changing the wavelength of transmitted second waveband of the white beam, such as to adjust a projector white point shift.

A prism assembly including two or more prisms, at least one of which has or more surfaces that are used for total internal reflection or partial spectral reflection of incoming light, wherein at least a part of one of the surfaces used for reflection purposes is covered with an element that is spaced apart from the surface, such that a gap is defined in between the surface and the element, and wherein the gap is sealed with a seal that is applied on one of said prisms in order to prevent contaminants from entering the gap.
