A system and method is disclosed for minimizing power consumption in a reference voltage circuit. A capacitor is coupled to a reference voltage circuit and charged to a voltage that equals the reference voltage of the reference voltage circuit. The capacitor is then decoupled from the reference voltage circuit and power to the reference voltage circuit is turned off. The capacitor then provides the capacitor voltage to other circuits as a reference voltage. After a selected period of time has elapsed since the capacitor was last charged to the reference voltage, the reference voltage circuit is turned on and the capacitor is again coupled to the reference voltage circuit. The reference voltage circuit then recharges the capacitor to the reference voltage level. This process is repeated to periodically charge the capacitor to the reference voltage.

An audio-frequency power bridged amplifier operates without a negative rail when responding to non-negative input signals, e.g. input signals ranging from zero to five volts. The amplifier also eliminates the problem of one differential rail being clipped before the other differential rail. When combined with a tracking circuit to form a Class H amplifier, the Class H amplifier operates with two positive rails rather than the two positive and two negative rails conventionally used with Class H amplifiers.

A structure for preventing simultaneous conduction in the power transistors of an output circuit of an audio system includes an auxiliary device in each of the high side control and low side control circuits controlling the power transistors. The auxiliary device in the high side control circuit is turned on simultaneously with the high side power transistor to provide a control signal to the low side control circuit, thereby turning off the low side power transistor. Conversely, the auxiliary device in the low side control circuit is turned on simultaneously with the low side power transistor to provide a control signal to the high side control circuit, thereby turning off the high side power transistor. Thus, simultaneous conduction in the high and low side power transistors is prevented.

Cross-conduction prevention circuit for power amplifier output stage

An electronic advance and ignition control system incorporating the advance utilizes a fixed advance threshold compared with amplitude of an RPM sensitive input waveform from a distributor in combination with a timing circuit, which establishes a predetermined RPM rate above which the advance operates. The electronic advance accurately duplicates the function of conventional centrifugal and vacuum and advance retard mechanisms in controlling timing of an ignition coil drive signal. The electronic advance is provided as part of an ignition control integrated circuit which can operate in a stand alone mode or share control of the ignition system with a microprocessor through interface circuits also forming part of the integrated circuit.
