A common mode choke for connecting to DC side of a power converter. The common mode choke includes a choke core having first and second core portions for guiding magnetic flux. The common mode choke also includes a first winding and a second winding for generating magnetic flux, wherein both of the windings have series-connected first and second portions, respectively. The first portion of the first winding and the first portion of the second winding are concentrically around the first core portion, with the first portion of the first winding concentrically wound over the first portion of the second winding as an outer winding, and the second portion of the first winding and the second portion of the second winding are concentrically around the second core portion, with the second portion of the second winding concentrically wound over the second portion of the first winding as an outer winding.

Common mode choke for connecting to DC side of power converter, filter arrangement, and power converter

The present invention relates to a drive for an electric application such as an electric motor, said drive including at least one microphone for registering noise signals occurring at the drive, wherein the microphone is connectable to a computing device for analysing the registered noise signals. The registered noise signals may be used for a maintenance process of the drive and/or a fine-tuning process of a drive control method of the drive. The present invention also relates to a maintenance process, in particular a predictive maintenance process for a corresponding drive. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a process for fine tuning a drive control method of a corresponding drive.

A DC-link charging arrangement is described having a DC-link capacitor, rectifier means, and contactor means arranged between supply voltage ports and the rectifier means and having at least one contactor. A power electronic converter comprises controllable switches (-) and a control system () for operating the controllable switches. The control system is configured to control the controllable switches so as to produce at least one test voltage pulse. The power electronic converter comprises a voltage sensor () for detecting a reflected voltage that is caused by a reflection of the test voltage pulse in an electric system connected to the power electronic converter. The control system is configured to control the operation of the power electronic converter at least partly in accordance with information based on the detection of the reflected voltage. The information can be used for example for determining forbidden voltage pulse lengths which would cause reflection-based over-voltages and/or for detecting faults such as short circuits and earth faults.

A converter includes a converter bridge () adapted to transfer electrical energy between the AC terminal () and the DC terminal () of the converter. The converter also includes electrical paths bypassing the converter bridge for conducting overvoltage transients occurring in the AC terminal around the converter bridge to the DC terminal. Each electrical path includes a unidirectionally conductive semiconductor component (), such as a diode, and a voltage-limiting component () for which the ratio of voltage change to current change is small when the voltage of the voltage-limiting component is greater than a predetermined threshold voltage. Because of the overvoltage protection thus achieved, AC chokes can be omitted from the AC terminal or at least they can be designed smaller, reducing the load-dependent voltage drop of the DC terminal.

The additional pillar () is arranged without the phase-specific or branch-specific windings fitted around it, in which case damping of the common-mode currents is achieved by means of the common-mode impedance formed by the windings arranged around the additional pillar and around the phase-specific or the branch-specific pillars.
