The present invention relates to a method and wireless device for supporting verification of a device category as well as to a method and a network node. It is desired to quickly allow finding out whether a wireless device should be allowed to access a network by verifying a device category. The method at the device comprises receiving from a network node a verification message including a random bit sequence; calculating a verification signature from the random bit sequence by using a verification function assigned to the device category; and transmitting the calculated verification signature to the network node in an uplink message of a random access procedure or in the first uplink message following a random access procedure so as to allow verification of the device category using the verification signature at a network node.

Wireless device and network node for verification of a device category as well as corresponding methods in a wireless communication system

Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a network node for enabling verification of a broadcast message transmitted from the network node to a wireless device. The network node signals a first public key, to the wireless device, using a secure connection. The network node further transmits a first broadcast message protected by a signature. The signature is generated from at least a protected part of the first broadcast message using a first private key, the first private key being associated with the first public key. Thereby, the broadcast message can be verified by the wireless device using the distributed first public key, thus preventing fake broadcast messages to be accepted by the device.

A technique for Quality of Experience (QoE) or Application Layer (AL) measurements at high load is described. As to one method aspect of the technique for reporting QoE measurements from a radio device () wirelessly connected or connectable to a radio access network, RAN (), the method () comprises or initiates a step of receiving () a stop control message () from or through the RAN () at the radio device (), the stop control message () being indicative of a command for storing () results of the QoE or AL measurements at the radio device () and stopping () the radio device () from reporting () the stored results of the QoE or AL measurements to or through the RAN.

Systems and methods for using response times of one or more Radio Access Network (RAN) nodes for cell or beam selection or reselection are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for cell or beam selection or reselection in a cellular communications system comprises receiving response times from one or more RAN nodes. The method further comprises performing a cell or beam selection or reselection procedure that takes into consideration the response times received from the one or more RAN nodes. Corresponding embodiments of a UE are also disclosed. Embodiments of a method performed by a RAN node and corresponding embodiments of a RAN node are also disclosed.

A radio access network (RAN) node () in a RAN () of a wireless communication network () signals a wireless device () to stop reporting Quality of Experience (QoE) measurements to the RAN (), and notifies a management system () in a core network () of the wireless communication network () that the reporting of QoE measurements to the RAN () has stopped.

A first network node transmits, to a wireless device, a first indication. The first indication indicates to select, out of a plurality of target links simultaneously fulfilling a respective condition to switch from a source link to a target link, a first target link to switch from the source link to the selected first target link. The selecting is based on at least one of: a Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) value, a Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ) value, a Signal to Interference and noise ratio (SINR) value, a priority, Random Access Channel (RACH) resources, a cell in which latest measurements were made, or a frequency, of the respective target links in the plurality of target links. The first network node then handles the link switch from the source link to the target link, based on the transmitted first indication.

Embodiments include methods performed by a network node, in a radio access network, RAN, that is a target node candidate for a mobility operation of a user equipment, UE. Such methods include receiving, from a source node serving the UE, a request to prepare a mobility procedure for the UE in relation to a candidate target cell associated with the network node. The request can include characteristics associated with a data connection of the UE. Such methods include determining that the UE can be admitted for the requested mobility procedure based on the characteristics, and determining to activate bicasting of the data connection. Different bicasting modes can be selected. Such methods also include transmitting, to the source node, a response that includes a bicasting configuration associated with the UE. Other embodiments include complementary methods performed by source nodes, as well as network nodes configured to perform such methods.

Techniques for conditional handover and bi-casting

A method performed by a network node for beam management. The network node receives one or more quality values from a User Equipment (UE). The one or more quality values are measured by the UE on first reference signals transmitted by the network node in respective one or more beams in a first set of candidate beams. The A serving beam is selected out of the first set of candidate beams based on the received quality values for data communication with the UE. The network node creates a rule related to signal quality. The network node obtains one or more second quality values related to respective subsequent messages transmitted to the UE in the selected serving beam. As long as the rule is fulfilled with respect to the second quality value, the network node transmits one or more further subsequent messages only in the serving beam.

Network node and method for beam management in a wireless communications network

Embodiments herein relate to, e.g., a method performed by a user equipment, UE, for handling signal measurements. The UE determines whether one or more conditions are fulfilled for indicating that a radio condition is below a certain level. In response to determining that one or more conditions are fulfilled and thereby indicating the radio condition is below a threshold, the UE transmits a report with restricted content.

A method, performed by a network node. The method is for handling a switch of a wireless device from a source to a target link. The network node and the device operate in a wireless communications network. Given a configuration of the target link indicating resources to perform random access to the network node during the switch, the network node, transmits, prior to the switch, an indication to the device. The indication indicates an update to the configuration. The network node changes the configuration of the target link, based on the update. The changing is performed only after receiving a confirmation of at least one of: i) from the device, that the device has received the indication, and ii) from a first network node operating in the wireless communications network, that it has transmitted the indication to the device.

First network node, second network node, wireless device and methods performed thereby for handling a link switch

A method by a communication device for supporting a random access procedure in a wireless communication network. The communication device provides an indicator for indicating a presence of an initial access request by the communication device. The initial access request is part of the random access procedure. The indicator comprises a pre-defined synchronization sequence, wherein one of: the indicator comprises a first access burst extending over one time slot, wherein the first access burst comprises the pre-defined synchronization sequence, which is longer than 41 bits, and the indicator comprises a second access burst extending over two time slots, the second access burst comprising the pre-defined synchronization sequence, which is longer than 88 bits. The communication device transmits the indicator on a random access channel in uplink to a network node. The indicator indicates the presence to the network node of the initial access request.

Methods and arrangements for supporting a random access procedure

A network node of a mobile communications network may need to generate at least one new Input Offset Value, IOV value, for use in protecting communications between the network node and a mobile station. The network node then associates a fresh counter value with the or each new IOV value; calculates a Message Authentication Code based on at least the at least one new IOV value, the fresh counter value associated with the or each new IOV value, and a constant indicating that the Message Authentication Code is calculated to protect the new IOV value; and transmits the at least one new IOV value, the fresh counter value associated with the or each new IOV value, and the calculated Message Authentication Code to the mobile station.

Security of ciphering and integrity protection

A method of operating a UE to provide feedback on a streaming session. The method includes determining when a streaming session used by an application layer of the UE is being started and/or ended. Responsive to the determination, the method transmits an indication to a RAN that the streaming session is being started and/or ended. A corresponding method of operating a network node is provided to control reporting relating to streaming sessions of UEs.
