A socket connector () using for electrically connecting a chip module () to a printed circuit board includes a housing (), a number of terminals () received in corresponding passageways of the housing (), a frame () mounted around the housing (), a clip () received pivotably in an end of the frame () and a lever () connecting to an opposite end of the frame (). The lever () being configured as pole-shaped form comprising a base portion () and a sleeve for wrapping the base portion (). The sleeve () reduces friction produced between the lever () and the clip ().

Socket connector

An electrical connector assembly includes a connector comprising a base with a plurality of passageways receiving a plurality of conductive contacts, a cover mounted on the base, the cover defining a plurality of through holes corresponding to the passageways, and an actuator for driving the cover to move from an open position to a closed position; a chip module mounted on the connector and including an abutting surface resting on the cover and a plurality of pins extending from the abutting surface. A first guiding device is defined on the chip module and a second guiding device is defined on the connector for engaging with the first guiding device along an engaging direction, and a length of the two guiding devices along the engaging direction is longer than that of the pins, and wherein the module is provided with a first guider and the connector is provided with a second guider, and the two guiders have different heights in the engaging direction.

Electrical connector assembly

A contact module with connectors adapted to engage with first and second electrical conductors such that when resiliently interfaced with the conductors there is a net zero moment of inertia exerted on the conductors. Each individual connector exerts a resilient spring force to engage with an electrical conductor. When such resilient forces, as in the prior art are aggregated, they can exert a considerable vectored moment of inertia on the electrical conductors to which they are connected. The connectors of the present invention are arranged so that each individual connector has an opposing connector somewhere in the module to offset each individual moment of inertia so that the net sum of all moments on the interfacing electrical conductor is zero.

Contact module with connectors

Disclosed is a BGA connector assembly including an insulative housing () with a plurality of terminals () in electrical connection with corresponding solder balls () that extend from a surface of the housing. The solder balls form a soldering region () for attachment to a printed circuit board. The whole electrical connector assembly has a center of gravity biased from a center of the soldering region, and at least one recess () is formed in the housing. The at least one recess prevents the connector assembly from becoming inclined with respect to the printed circuit board when the solder balls are attached to the printed circuit board.

BGA connector assembly

A LIF socket () for electrically connecting an IC package and a PCB includes an insulative housing () having a supporting surface () and a mounting surface () opposite to the supporting surface. A number of passages () extend from the mounting surface. Each passage has a leading section (). A number of contacts () are disposed in corresponding passages, respectively. Each contact has a planar body (), a pair of arms () extending from two lateral sides of the planar body towards the supporting surface, and a soldering pad () angled with respect to the planar body. The arm is formed with a curved contacting () section at a distal end thereof.

LIF socket connector

An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing and a number of contacts. One side of the dielectric housing defines a number of passageways for receiving the contacts. The contact includes a retention portion to secure the contact in the dielectric housing. The retention portion defines at least one through hole in the center. The housing is stamped and a corresponding number of projecting portions are extruded into the through holes after the contacts are inserted into the housing, thereby securing the contacts in the housing.

Electrical connector and method of making the same

Disclosed is a LGA socket connector including an insulative housing (), a stiffener (), a clip (), and a lever () defining thereof a driving portion () and a locking portion () linked thereto. The stiffener is configured to grasp a periphery of the housing. The clip and the locking portion of the lever are essentially pivotally moved about longitudinal ends of the housing respectively, but with the driving portion disposed adjacent one transverse side of the housing. At least one of the clip and the stiffener is provided with a recessed region () adjacent said transverse side of the housing, thereby preventing the whole connector from becoming inclined when the connector is horizontally locked and placed on the printed circuit board.

LGA socket

A connector () comprises a base (), a cover (), a protecting mechanism () and an actuator (). The base defines a plurality of through holes () therein for receiving a plurality of contacts. The cover movably mounted on the base defines a plurality of passages in alignment with the through holes of the base. The protecting mechanism in the cover defines a hole extending therethrough, two stop members () are formed in inner surface of the hole. The actuator that can actuate the cover slide on the base, is rotatably assembled with the base and the protecting mechanism. The actuator has a protrusion thereon abuttable against either of the stop members during operation of the actuator, and is departed completely from the cover by the protecting mechanism.

Electrical contact

An LGA connector () comprises a housing () for receiving a number of contacts (), a stiffener () partly covering and reinforcing the housing. The stiffener comprises a pair of lateral sides (), a front end () and a rear end (), and a central cavity () disposed therebetween. The sides, the front end and the rear end each define a bottom wall () thereof, thereby around the central cavity. A plurality of separately and uniformly protrusions () is formed on a bottom surface of the bottom wall. The protrusion and the bottom wall are integrally formed as a single piece by stamping. Thus, the connector is soldered on a circuit board () via solder balls () on the contacts and the protrusions, thereby preventing the connector from inclining downwardly during in reflow process because of the connecting force between the connector and the board increased.

Land grid array connector with reinforcement stiffener

An electrical connector () for connecting a land grid array (LGA) chip with a printed circuit board (PCB) includes a housing (), and terminals () received in passageways () of the housing. The housing defines a base () and four sidewalls (), the base and the sidewalls cooperatively defining a space therebetween for receiving the LGA chip. The base has a multiplicity of passageways along a length thereof, for receiving the corresponding terminals therein. Two adjacent sidewalls each define a resilient beam () with an incline surface and joining the sidewall at two ends. A space () is defined between the beam and the sidewall. When the LGA chip is placed on the base, the two resilient beams can resiliently act on the chip to ensure reliable engagement between the LGA chip and the connector.

Electrical connector with reliable resilient beams

An electrical connector () includes a housing (), a cover (), and an actuator (). The base includes an extending portion () with a projection () and a hook portion () inwardly formed a top of the projection. The actuator includes an operational lever () and an axle () engaged with the operational lever. A coil spring () is mounted around the axle and defines a first end () at a free end thereof. A retention clip () is mounted on the projection and includes a base portion (), a first and second extending walls () extending from two opposite ends of the base portion. The coil spring is attached to the operational lever and rotates under force from the operational lever, and the retention clip is tightly fastened on the projection, thereby the operational lever can only be retained in a first position or a second position.
