A method of processing multi-leg calls in a communication network is provided. The method comprises: receiving a call for a user at a first entity in the network; establishing a first call leg to a second entity; generating a first charging data record with at least one field, wherein the field contains a charging identifier for the first call leg; receiving a response from the second entity; establishing a second call leg to a third entity; generating a second charging data record with at least two fields, wherein the first field contains a charging identifier for the second call leg and the second field contains a copy of the charging identifier for the first call leg; and sending the charging data records to a third entity.

Method and apparatus for linking charging records

In a wireless communication system, a method includes monitoring an error condition on an active communication channel, establishing a simultaneous communication channel, and searching the simultaneous communications channel while continuing to monitor the active communication channel.

Wireless communication system enhanced call recovery

A selective blocking request is sent from a requesting network element to an SCF (system control function component), where the request identifies a targeted network element. The SCF may then block communications from the targeted network element to the requesting network element, or it may send an ACG (automatic code gapping) message to the targeted network element requesting it to stop sending communications to the requesting network element. This technique offers the advantage of allowing an overloaded network element to reduce its workload while informing other components of the network that messages from a targeted network component will not be accepted by the overloaded network element.

Selective blocking in a communication network

In the method of subscriber initiated porting of a wireless number for a mobile station, a new service provider receives a porting request sent by a subscriber, and sends a profile request to a current service provider of the subscriber in response to the porting request. The profile request requests profile information on the subscriber. Subsequently, the new service provider receives the profile information for the subscriber, and sends a porting complete notification to the subscriber.
