A method for curing of an actinic light sensitive ink or toner layer on a substrate includes irradiating the actinic light sensitive ink or toner layer with a first radiation dose D1 in a first spectral range between 320 nm and 445 nm, followed by a second radiation dose D2 in a second spectral range between 200 nm and 319 nm. The ratio D1/D2 of the first radiation dose and the second radiation dose is between 0.25 and 500, more preferably between 0.25 and 200, even more preferably between 0.50 and 100.

Method for curing of an ink or toner layer and printing system with curing unit

The digital printing apparatus uses a liquid toner comprising toner particles in a carrier liquid for printing an image on a substrate. It includes an imaging member adapted to sustain a pattern of electric charge forming a latent image on its surface; a development member arranged to receive a quantity of the liquid toner dispersion and to develop said latent image; means for transfer of the liquid toner dispersion from the imaging member to the substrate at a transfer location, and a fusing unit. The apparatus further includes a liquid removal unit arranged for removal of carrier liquid from the substrate, and upstream of said fusing unit.

A digital printing apparatus comprising a developing roller () and an image carrying roller (); the developing roller () being arranged to transfer liquid toner () onto the image carrying roller () in accordance with a charge pattern; an upstream charger () upstream of an area () of rotational contact between the developing roller () and the image carrying roller (); a downstream discharger () downstream of the area (); a sensor () downstream of the area () to detect a property representative of the charge of a liquid toner residue; and a controller () to receive sensor data from the sensor () and to provide a control signal to control the downstream discharger.

Digital printing system with improved toner removal

A system for applying liquid toner to a developing member in a digital printer. The system includes a reservoir for storing liquid toner, a feed member and a developing member. The feed member is arranged to rotate to transfer liquid toner from the reservoir to the developing member. The system includes a feed assist member. The feed member is arranged for rotating in contact with the feed assist member and making contact with the feed assist member along a contact area which is located, when the system is operational, in the liquid toner in the reservoir. The feed assist member is provided with a compressible contact portion arranged for being compressed in the contact area between the feed member and the feed assist member.
