A method for manufacturing a golf club head including a golf club head body, a striking face, and an inner wall supporting the striking face. A ledge extends from a body into the interior of the golf club head body, and the inner wall is disposed within a gap between the striking face and the ledge. A rear surface of the inner wall is supported by a portion of the golf club head body, and a rear surface of the striking face is in contact with a portion of the inner wall. The inner wall may be inserted into the golf club head through an opening defined in the toe portion of the golf club head or the rear portion of the golf club head.

A golf club head with a crown comprising an inner crown portion and an outer crown portion. The inner crown portion may be made of a low density or low elastic modulus material. The outer portion of the crown defines an opening to the cavity, a riser extending into the cavity, and a ledge extending from the edge of the riser. The ledge may define a first channel and a second channel that extend around the ledge. The first channel is filled with adhesive to secure the inner portion of the crown to the ledge. The inner portion of the crown is attached to the ledge such that the opening is covered by the inner portion of the crown. The golf club head may also have a sole comprising an inner sole portion and an outer sole portion.

A golf club head with improved striking face performance is disclosed herein. More specifically, the present invention discloses a golf club head having a striking face portion with a back surface provided with multiple constant thickness zones and multiple transition zones on a back surface of the striking face portion. Preferably, at least three constant thickness zones are provided in the thickened central region of the striking face portion encompassed by an intermediate transition zone and an outer perimeter region encompassing the intermediate transition zone comprising at least four outer perimeter constant thickness zones. Preferably, the thickened central region and the intermediate transition region mimic the shape of the face perimeter of the striking face portion of the golf club head.

Striking face of a golf club

A golf club head has a stranded structure such as a cantilevered strand or a beam strand. The stranded structure causes changes in acoustic properties from that of a standard golf club. A gap or through-hole around the stranded structure may be filled with a vibration dampening material, such as flexible polymer, to further adjust the acoustic properties of the golf club. Vibration frequency regions in a golf club may be modified by incorporating stranded structures in the vibration frequency regions.

A golf club head has a striking face. A ledge extends from the perimeter contact rim of the golf club head. The striking face is secured to the club head body proximate the rim. There is a gap between the striking face and the ledge. The inner wall's perimeter edge is disposed in the gap and is in contact with the ledge. The rear surface of the striking face is in contact with a portion of the inner wall.

A golf club head where at least a first portion of an exterior surface of the golf club head includes depressions is disclosed herein. More specifically, the golf club head has a body with a striking face, a crown portion, a sole portion, and a skirt portion joining the striking face, crown portion and the sole portion and in accordance with the present invention at least a portion of the exterior surface of the body of the golf club head is further comprised of depressions to reduce the aerodynamic drag force on the golf club head. The depressions may be provided on a first portion of the golf club head on one or more of a crown portion, sole portion, skirt portion or striking face.
