It is provided a fastening device for fastening a cord-like element to an element of an airbag module. The fastening device comprises at least two half shells, which each have an elongated shape and each extend along a longitudinal axis and are arranged relative to each other in such a way that together they define a cavity. Furthermore, the fastening device comprises a web, which connects the at least two half shells to each other along a first direction transversely to the longitudinal axis of the half shells and has a predetermined breaking point, and a pyrotechnical actuator, which is at least sectionally arranged in the cavity and is configured to break up the fastening device at the predetermined breaking point when triggered. The at least two half shells and the web form a receptacle for positively fastening the cord-like element to the fastening device.

Fastening device and airbag module

A gasbag arrangement for a steering wheel of a motor vehicle is provided. The gasbag arrangement includes a gasbag which can be inflated for protecting a vehicle occupant. The gasbag, when inflated and mounted in the vehicle, includes an indentation in a portion that points towards the vehicle floor in the straight-ahead position of the steering wheel for reducing the expansion of a gasbag in the direction of a body region extending below the thorax region of the vehicle occupant such that a load on that body region during an impact of the vehicle occupant on the gasbag is minimized. According to another aspect a gasbag arrangement includes a gasbag which, when inflated and mounted in the vehicle, includes a side facing towards the vehicle floor and extending essentially parallel to a plane spanned by the longitudinal vehicle direction and the transverse vehicle direction.

Gas bag arrangements for a steering wheel of a motor vehicle

An airbag module for a motor vehicle is provided. The airbag module comprising a gas bag, which is inflatable by means of a gas generator for the protection of a person, and a vent opening through which gas originating from the airbag module can escape, and a device for controlling the outlet cross-section of the vent opening, which comprises at least one covering member with which the vent opening can be covered, in order to at least partly close the same, and which furthermore comprises an actuating mechanism which cooperates with the covering member, in order to vary the outlet cross-section of the vent opening. The actuating mechanism includes a gas source and an element inflatable by means of the gas source, which during inflation cooperates with the covering member such that it effects a change in the outlet cross-section of the vent opening.

Airbag module for a motor vehicle

An airbag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes an inflatable airbag having at least one outflow opening through which gas can flow out of the airbag. The airbag arrangement also includes a stretchable element including a covering structure for adjustably covering a portion of the outflow opening. The covering structure moves relative to the outflow opening when the stretchable element is stretched. The airbag arrangement also includes a fastener for fastening the stretchable element to the airbag so the stretchable element stretches when the airbag inflates and the covering structure moves relative to the outflow opening changing the size of the covered portion of the outflow opening.

Airbag arrangement

An airbag module for a motor vehicle, including an airbag folded to form an airbag package; a component of the airbag module, which via a first component part for inflating the airbag with gas and/or for fastening the airbag to a motor vehicle part cooperates with the airbag; and a protective covering which encloses the airbag in a gastight manner. The protective covering also encloses the first component part and comprises at least one opening, through which a second component part connected to the first component part projects from the space enclosed by the protective covering, the opening of the protective covering being closed in a gastight manner by means of a sealing element.

A module assembly for an airbag device for protecting occupants of motor vehicles includes a carrier for the assembly, an inflatable airbag packet, a flexible protective envelope, and a fixing mechanism. The airbag packet is fixed to the carrier. The airbag packet is accommodated in the flexible protective envelope. The protective enveloped can be closed off in a gastight manner. The fixing mechanism fixes the airbag packet to the carrier. The fixing mechanism includes a holding element. The holding element, which includes a securing mechanism provided on the carrier to fix the airbag packet to the carrier, extends along an edge of the airbag packet. The securing mechanism is formed integrally on the carrier and is resiliently pivotable with respect to a lateral section of the carrier. Alternatively, the securing mechanism is fixed on the carrier as a separate assembly.

Airbag module assembly

A process for producing an airbag packet for an airbag module is provided. The airbag is folded up in a folding apparatus to form an airbag packet. Then, the airbag packet is enclosed in a gastight manner by a flexible envelope, wherein the airbag packet is at least partially enclosed by the envelope while it is still in the folding apparatus.

Method for the production of a gas bag packet for an airbag module

A front-passenger airbag module includes a gas generator, a diffuser, a self-supporting airbag, and an airbag housing. To reduce the development costs of a new airbag system, a component system that includes the airbag, the diffuser, the gas generator, and an arched airbag holder, which is arranged between the airbag housing and the gas generator and which is at least partially enclosed by the lower section of the self-supporting airbag.

Front-passenger airbag module

An airbag, particularly for the knee or head region of a vehicle occupant, has a substantially cylindrical main region. The airbag comprises a substantially cylindrical fabric tube whose lateral ends are stitched after folding the tube into a predetermined pattern having at least two looped segments. The fabric tube can be formed by joining the lateral edge of a rectangular fabric blank.

Airbag and method of forming the same

An airbag arrangement and method includes an airbag module, which has a module housing and an airbag. The airbag is arranged so that it sequentially unfolds in various directions so that it ultimately becomes positioned in front of the passenger. The airbag has two sections, a first chamber and a second chamber. The first chamber inflates first and is forced to travel substantially laterally along the dashboard toward the A-frame, and rests there or the windshield or both. The airbag is twistingly connected relative to the housing so that as the first chamber inflates, it rests against the windshield or the A-frame and applies a torque thereagainst to stably position the first chamber. The first chamber becomes substantially centered about the front seat. Thereafter, the second chamber inflates toward the seat or the passenger seated therein.

Airbag module and arrangement and method thereof in a vehicle

In an embodiment of the present invention, a device for influencing the flow of the gas into a gas bag of an airbag module with an inflating device and a gas bag, wherein at least one component part is provided between the inflating device and the gas bag. The component part is deformable under the pressure of the gas emerging from the inflating device and forms or releases at least one opening in the predetermined direction. The component part has a flap-like section which is defined at least in part by surrounding perforations in the component part, and between the component part and the flap-like section there are overlapping slits between which at least one retaining tab is formed which connects the component part to the flap-like section.

Device for influencing the inflow of gas into the gas bag of an air bag module

An airbag arrangement and method includes an airbag module, which has a module housing and an airbag. The airbag is arranged so that it sequentially unfolds so that it ultimately becomes positioned in front of the passenger. The module is mounted along a roof region of the vehicle, in front of a passenger seat, with an opening of the housing facing toward the windshield. The airbag has a first section and a second section extending from the first section at an angle, which can be substantially at 90&deg;. The first and second sections are configured to deploy substantially downwardly along the windshield. The second section is configured to further deploy toward the passenger, below the passenger's head level.

Airbag module and airbag arrangement and method thereof

A gas bag for an airbag module having an outer contour and a plurality of sections, at least one of which is cut free of the remaining section of the gas bag and is able to move independently of it. The cut-free section is situated at least partly within the outer contour of the gas bag, and is of such a size and shape that the adjacent gas bag section constitutes a frame of the cut free section.
