Femoral component for a knee prosthesis with improved articular characteristics

According to one example, a posterior-stabilized femoral prosthesis for a knee arthroplasty. The femoral prosthesis can include medial and lateral condyles, a femoral cam and a recess. The medial and lateral condyles can be shaped to articulate with a tibial articular surface of a tibial bearing component through a range of motion, in which full extension corresponds to zero degrees flexion of a knee joint and positive flexion corresponds to greater than zero degrees flexion of the knee joint. In a sagittal plane, the medial and lateral condyles can define medial and lateral multi-radius curves, respectively. The medial multi-radius curve can have a single common radius swept through a first angular extent to define a single arc length that extends from between substantially −20 degrees flexion to substantially 90 degrees flexion, inclusive.

According to one example, a system for a knee arthroplasty that can optionally comprise: a femoral prosthesis having a joint facing surface and an opposing bone facing surface, wherein the femoral prosthesis has one or more attachment elements at or adjacent the bone facing surface; and one or more features selectively attachable with the femoral prosthesis via the one or more attachment elements, wherein the one or more features comprise one of a box, a stem, or a combination of the box and the stem.

Knee prosthesis system and method

According to one example, a tibial bearing component for articulation with a medial condyle and a lateral condyle of a femoral component in a knee replacement procedure is disclosed. The tibial bearing component can include a distal surface and an articular surface opposing the distal surface. The articular surface can include a medial compartment and a lateral compartment configured for articulation with the medial condyle and the lateral condyle of the femoral component, respectively. The lateral compartment can have a lateral articular track with a lateral anterior-posterior extent. The lateral articular track can comprise a plurality of distal-most points along a proximal surface of the lateral compartment that are contacted by the lateral condyle during rollback of the femoral component. The medial compartment can differ in configuration from the lateral compartment and can have an anterior lip height of between about 9 mm and about 13 mm.

Prosthesis system including tibial bearing component

Apparatuses and systems including an instrument for manipulating components within a knee joint of a patient are disclosed. Such manipulation can include inserting and/or removing such components to or from a bone of the knee joint. The instrument can include a handle, a body, a plunger, a detent and a collar. The handle can have a proximal end and a distal end and a longitudinal extent between the proximal end and the distal end. The body can be coupled to the handle and can extend distal of the distal end. The body can define a receptacle therein having an opening at a distal end portion of the instrument. The plunger can be moveably disposed within the body and can be moveable between a first position and a second position. The detent can be moveable by the plunger, such that with the plunger in the first position at least a portion of the detent can extend into the receptacle and with the plunger in the second position the detent can be recessed from the receptacle. The collar can be disposed about at least a portion of the body and can be moveable relative to the body to operatively actuate the plunger from the first position to the second position.
