A user equipment (UE) comprising a receiver, a transmitter, and a processor are configured to simultaneously receive a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) streams from a first base station and detect data from the received plurality of streams. Further, the UE, based on detected data from the first base station, receive and detect data from an OFDM stream from the first base station and an OFDM stream from a second base station. The UE is further configured to transmit channel quality information to the first base station and the second base station and receive and detect data from the at least one OFDM stream from the first base station and the at least one OFDM stream from the second base station is based on the transmitted channel quality information.

Scheduling and coordination in a wireless network

A wireless device is configured to produce a signal in a time slot, the signal having a first portion and a second portion. Wherein, the first portion being a first in time in the time slot and the second portion being last in time in the time slot. Further, the first portion having data and a multiplexed first pilot and the second portion having a pilot sequence and a cyclic prefix. The wireless device transmits the produced signal in the time slot.

Generating a composite signal with code division multiplexing (CDM) and time division multiplexing (TDM) pilots

A method, mobile device () and radio access network RAN () are disclosed for suspending and re-establishing a radio resource control (RRC) connection. In some examples, the mobile device () indicates a preference to have the RRC connection either suspended or released. In other examples, RAN () sends to the mobile device () a connection suspend command message instructing the mobile device to suspend a RRC connection with the RAN (). The mobile device (), in response to the connection suspend command message, suspends the RRC connection. When the RRC connection is suspended the mobile device () cannot transmit or receive user plane data to the RAN () and performs functions the same as or similar to idle mode functions. On suspension, RRC connection information is stored and can be used to re-establish the suspended RRC connection.

Simplified UE + eNB messaging

A user equipment (UE) transceiver configured to receive N orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) data streams from a first network device and a second network device, wherein M data streams are from the first network device and N-M of the data streams are from the second network device, and wherein the M data streams and the N-M data streams are substantially synchronized. Further, the transmissions from the first network device and the second network device are scheduled and coordinated based on a determined channel quality of a radio channel between the first network device and the UE, wherein a first number of data streams used for communication with the UE in a time period and a second number of data streams transmitted within the time period are adjusted based on the determined channel quality.

A user equipment (UE) receives a reference signal from a base station and determines a pathloss based on the received reference signal. The UE further receive a downlink channel signal including an uplink resource assignment and a transmit power command. The UE transmits an uplink signal, wherein the uplink signal is transmitted using a transmit power level determined based on the pathloss, a format of the uplink signal, the uplink resource assignment and the transmit power command.

Power control in a wireless network

A user equipment (UE) may be configured to receive a signal in a time slot, wherein the signal includes a first reference signal, a second reference signal and data scrambled using a data scrambling sequence. Further, the first reference signal and the second reference signal are not scrambled using the data scrambling sequence. The second reference signal having a code sequence being a non-zero power of two in length and is time multiplexed with the data. The UE recovers the data of the received signal using the first or second reference signal.

A user equipment (UE) receives a transmit power control (TPC) command and is configured to accumulate the TPC command with prior TPC commands to derive a first value. Further, the UE is configured to produce a second value based on a type of a first signal to be transmitted and a third value based on a transport format of the first signal, wherein the type of signal is from a plurality of types of signals having different spreading factors. The UE is configured to determine a transmission power level for the first signal based on the first value, the second value and the third value. The UE is configured to transmit the first signal at the determined transmission power level.

A user equipment (UE) receives a parameter indicating a power control loop out of a plurality of power control loops and a first transmit power control (TPC) command. The UE transmit a first uplink physical channel based on the first TPC command and the indicated power control loop. Further, the UE receive a single downlink channel, wherein the single downlink channel carries a channel allocation and a second TPC command for the UE. The UE transmit a second uplink physical channel using resources based on the channel allocation and at a transmission power level based on the second TPC command.

A control circuit determines that a wireless portable electronic device currently being serviced via licensed wireless spectrum should also be served via unlicensed wireless spectrum and then transmits a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message to cause the wireless portable electronic device to connect to a network node operating in the unlicensed wireless spectrum. By one approach this control circuit comprises an Evolved Node-B base station in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) Radio Access Network (RAN) and the network node operating in the unlicensed wireless spectrum comprises an 802.11-compatible wireless local area network node.

Method and apparatus for simultaneous use of both licensed and unlicensed wireless spectrum

A network device may schedule orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmissions. The network device may determine frequency resources and streams to send to a user equipment (UE) based on the received first assistance information and channel quality associated with the UE. The network device may send to the first network device, second assistance information to facilitate the first network device to schedule OFDM transmissions. Scheduled OFDM transmissions from the network device may partially overlap in time with OFDM transmissions from the first network device.

A user equipment (UE) receives, from a base station, a parameter indicating a power control loop out of a plurality of power control loops. Further, the UE receives a single downlink channel, wherein the single downlink channel carries a channel allocation and a transmit power control (TPC) command for the UE. The UE transmits a shared uplink physical channel using resources based on the channel allocation and at a transmission power level based on the transmit power command and the indicated power control loop.

A wireless communication unit may receive a composite signal that includes data, a code division multiplexing (CDM) pilot sequence that is spread with a first channelization code, and a time division multiplexing (TDM) pilot sequence including a cyclic prefix. The TDM pilot sequence may be spread with a second channelization code. The composite signal may have a pre-defined portion of a time slot where the CDM pilot sequence is non-cyclic. The TDM pilot sequence may have a cyclic structure within the pre-defined portion of the time slot.

Disclosed herein is a method at a User Equipment (UE) comprising determining that a current radio resource configuration is of a normal type, and responsive to the determining, prohibiting the UE from sending a Power Preference Indication (PPI) for a radio resource configuration of the normal type. Also disclosed is a method at a UE comprising: determining that a current radio resource configuration is of a power optimized type, and responsive to the determining, prohibiting the UE from sending a PPI for a radio resource configuration of the power optimized type. Also disclosed is a UE including a processor, the UE configured to: determine that a current radio resource configuration is of a normal type, and responsive to the determining, refrain from sending a PPI for a radio resource configuration of the normal type.
