A closure () is provided and comprises a top plate () and a sidewall () depending from the periphery of the top plate. The closure includes a sealing member () which depends from the top plate within the sidewall. The top plate includes a foamed region which is restricted to being within a boundary defined by the sealing member; the sealing member being substantially unfoamed.

According to a first aspect of the invention there is provided a method of manufacturing an applicator and container arrangement comprising molding an insert from a first material, placing the molded insert into a mold, molding an outer structure from a second material over the molded insert, the second material having limited adhesion to the first material, the outer structure defining a handle portion and a shoulder portion, and having a weakened area between the handle portion and the shoulder portion, providing a body portion in a material compatible with the second material so as to ensure adherence to the shoulder portion of the outer structure, and assembling the outer structure, including the insert, and the body portion. The invention extends to a container and applicator arrangement made in accordance with the method.

Container and applicator arrangement for a cosmetic product, and associated method of manufacture

According to an aspect of the invention there is provided a method of manufacturing an applicator brush for use in applying a product, such as a cosmetic product, the method comprising providing a plurality of fibers, decorating the fibers so as to define at least one colored region, and fitting the decorated fibers to a stem so as to define a cosmetic applicator brush, wherein the step of decorating the fibers includes a step of coloring the fibers using dye sublimation so that individual fibers have an outer colored region and an inner uncolored region. In an embodiment, an individual fiber is decorated with a color that is different to another individual fiber extending from the stem. Alternatively, or in addition, an individual fiber is decorated with at least two colors.
